How did the 1st beat Madara???

Well, may be Madara had the same problem like Sasuke that is less chakra.
In Naruto and Sasuke's case Naruto has way more Chakra but since Sasuke is more skillfull than Naruto, they become equal.
But in the First and Madara's case the were equally skilled. So Hashirama got away with his Chakra container.

1. Water (suikon) vs Fire ( katon) in the element circle
Even if madara had some how mastered fire to its peak it would be lame or weaker to some one who had mastered water to its peak.Remeber the wooden style shodai had mastered both doton and suikon to the extent of forming a new element mokuton. so in term of fire to water. the shodai had the upper hand

2. The First's ability to control the bijuu

Remember kishi's writing...this dude could control the tailed beast has his own, to the extent of giving other nations. So even if madara somehow sharinganed the bijuu it would still be controlled by the senju..and he had mokuton which has effects to bijuu.he can bind them with his wood style while doing some spanking to madara..

3.The first's chakra ability and byakougou

The firsts chakra was said to be in motion,movement all the time, this is against genjutsu type users.Even if you cast a genjutsu on him it would be distorted /cancelled. the dude could heal is wounds without twitching fingers and mumbling poultry.

4.He was close to the uzumaki (the clan was known for its sealing abilities)

Dont look at mokuton as just water and earth...why would they need the firsts cells to do mokuton...its mokuton is life..living things you have to know ying and yang..you have to breath life to your trees..

If it came to me madaras only option to fight the first was taijutsu..all madaras ability cant work on the first..

lastly he had the scroll of sealing when it came to taijutsu..and the very first technique was kage bunshin..which naruto until now uses it to defeat the likes of pain and kiba's..

in comparison to the first narutos bunshin is no match for the shodai.

just a thought could tobi be senju hashirama? hehehe

If Madara himself is babbling nonstop about how great Hashirama was... I don't see why the doubts. And when they fought, Madara surely wasn't as strong as now, with the rinnegan and hashi's cells. And remember that he is an edo, so he can't be killed. If he was alive, he would be already severely injured, if not dead.

if you have noticed Kishi"s hokages die so stupidly while there names are legend..1st=ninja war 2nd= bait/ decoy for some 30 warriors,he could have just edo tenseid them.3rd= a god of shinobi killed by orochimaru 4th a kyuubi a kyuubi? 5th you will see a frightened and cornered zetsu.

Okay now what is the number one enemy of TREES??? FIRE. What burns down a forest in seconds??? FIRE. Isnt Madara one of the strongest Uchiha + he had the 9 tails on his side...what ever happened to just spamming fire techs all day and burning down Hashirama..I mean I dont get how with a matchup like this Madara coulve lost.

I am in no way saying that Madara is stronger than Hashirama I am just saying he had a slight elemental advantage and the 9 tails on his side which can only give him ahigher chance of winning. YET HE STILL LOST. My question is how the fuq does Madara lose with such an advantage when they were both considered equal in terms of skill.

Hashirama can heal himself quickly, can create clones quickly using mokuton and madara entered that battle just to get hashirama's power(senju) so he was already ready to lose..

i think that tobi is senju hashirama despite the fact that we saw him get sealed by the 3rd in his fight with oro. i dont think that was the first that was resurected or sealed.

Man I hate people that write 5 or 6 paragraphs "explaining" how so and so happened even though everything has been said already. Anyway, I think the 2 main reasons why the 1st "won" that fight is 1) bc the 1st had Byakugou and 2) bc Madara was really after the Hashi's DNA. All other opinions regarding skills and what not can also be taken into consideration, but in the end the two I have mentioned are stronger FACTS.

its always been implied they were practically equals, with Hashirama being the slight superior of the two, and i mean SLIGHT. Otherwise their battle wouldn't of been so epic, and with suggestions that Madara went into the fight with objectives other than winning.

I got up to page 5 so if this has already been covered, I apologize. I get what you're saying. I just don't agree that he has an elemental advantage. Fire Release is a basic element for nature chakra manipulation. Wood Release is a combination of two elements of nature chakra manipulation (Water Release and Earth Realease) to make a new element release. So by my logic Wood Release is a higher rank jutsu than Fire Release. I'm not saying I'm right, but it's my way of thinking.


Fire can and does burn Wood. But Wood Release > Fire Release. I also think that this topic is moot, when we consider how much chakra and how concentrated the chakra a user puts in their jutsu. You know, like the chakra level that the 1st would put in his jutsus.

You guys keep forgetting that the nine tails would have been little to no help, because wood style is used to control the kyuubi. Remember how Yamato kept naruto in check with his wood style (which pales in comparison to Hashirama's) Now imagine Hashirama's wood style containing the nine tails.
Easy.
Plus Hashirama has a very good regeneration technique, and a massive chakra pool.
Unless there's some kind of twist that hasn't been revealed yet, it's safe to assume the first was stronger and he won.

guys hashirama is having kekei genkai which is wood release and when compared to madara he is having fire nature which u we cant call as a kekei genkai. when comparing, kekei genkai attacks were stronger bcoz it consist of more than one nature. we have seen this in when kakazu fighting kakashi.where kakuzu attacks(fire+wind) were stronger when compared to kakashi(water) attacks.i know madara is having EMS dat means a lot but still 1st hokage also have the power to heal himself. also have the ability to stop the jinchuriki by his wood release
