How did Sound Four have such a hard time with those two jounins in Part 1?

It makes no sense from a feats standpoint. All those part 1 jounins do is chuck kunais and spit toothpicks. Occasionally with one other member they can do a form of FTG to transport somebody. Going by feats and logic, anyone on the Sound Four should have been able to solo those two with their unique abilities with mid diff at best.

Short answer, Sound four were fodders.Wanna know why? They were beaten by apprentice shinobi,that simple.If you are a shinobi and you get killed it´s ok, as long as the one who defeat you are powerful (which isn´t the case of the sound four).Being hyped as if they were a big deal and end up getting defeated by kids.

The jounins just didn´t beat them because of plot, the characters that ended up beating The Sound Four had to be developed a little in the manga/show.

Well Shizune is NOT weak. She's in charge of the medical division in a world war, meaning she's important. If I remember correctly Gemna, Raido and fodder #28857693 can use Flying thunder god technique as a group. I'm just spitting out ideas I really don't know why.

Raido and Genma were both exhausted from a mission (and probably low on chakra)

+ Those four sound Ninja's stated that the four of them used cursed mark level 2. My guess is that Tayuya and that twin guy were both high chuunin or low Jounin leven at that time while spider guy was high chuunin level at max and fat guy mid Chuunin (with curse marks on)

=> There's a low chance for two exhausted ?mid? level jounin Shinobi to defeat a well organised group of Mid Chuunin to mid jounin fighters who were Orochimaru's personal bodygaurds to begin with

You guys are not answering the question. How specifically could the jounins have given these guys a hard time with their special abilities? What did they do when Kidomaru trapped them in a spider web or if jirobu trapped them in the chakra sucking earth prison, or when tayuya used her flute genjutsu, or when sakon/ukon went into their bodies? Not to mention they all had CM2 enhanced super strength/speed/chakra. What did they specifically have in their moveset to counter this? Throwing kunais/shuriken is not enough.
