Hashi critically wounded him and left. The same way all shinobi critically injure their opponent then leave. Hashi couldn't bring the guy back to konoha to be buried anyway lol.

Maddy then had some lacky on the sideline come in and place some of hashi's dna in him before he completely died. Said lacky continued to resuscitate him until he survived. The rest is history.
