How did Gaara beat Kimimaro?

Apparently as we saw in Naruto pt.1 Kimimaro can defeat the Sound ninja 4, who can easily have defeated Gaara and Lee. Yet Kimimaro was defeated by Gaara and Lee. What's with that? Your thoughts?

He fought with 100+ Kyuubi enchanted Naruto clones without getting hit once, beaten drunked fist Lee + countered his first gate, made Gaara use up all his chakra even though he had The One Tails and made him use his sand armour (monsterous chakra reserves). Kimimaro survived all that without even getting tired and still he wasnt defeated by any of them. He died from his illnes which was propably lung cancer.

Ga'ara can defeat all the sound four but he did not beat Kimimaro. Kimimaro would've killed him and Lee if it weren't for his illness.

He didn't really beat Lee, Lee just got out of his operation. Although, I doubt he would've beaten him anyway.

Seems someone forgot that Kimimaro was one of the last few Edos who weren't able to get sealed even though he fought the Samurais and KM Naruto clone. And i doupt that Samurais + KM Naruto clone < Lee. And who cares if he had an operation? Kimimaro had an death illnes which is far worser then a little operation.
