Itachi trusted Naruto and gave him Shishui's Eyed Crow when he asked him if he will back out from his words and kill Sasuke once he threatens to destroy Leaf Village, Naruto mentioned that he would never back out from his words. Only then Itachi trusted him.

So now that once Hinata has proposed Naruto, he would back out from his words and go for Hinata forgetting his love for Sakura?

You think that's fair? Also, you're mistaken. Naruto never in his life has PROMISED to love Sakura. He promised to bring Sasuke back. That's it. So if he begins to love Hinata, he would not be going back on his word... He never said: "Sakura, I will love you forever" or something like that. He owes her absolutely nothing.

The war isn't against Sasuke alone. It's against Akatsuki. What she was trying to do was to "save Sasuke from his own darkness, because she loves him too much to let him stoop any lower". Manga fact.
