I feel like he had enough chapters to make an epic fight and for the most part he had it on the right rails in terms of how it progressed. But imo he failed to make Kaguya an exciting and intimidating villain with the spectacle. Everything that happened seemed slow and underwhelming rather than fast paced and dangerous. When Pain attacked the villain that was perfect in creating a sense of danger and despair, Kaguya never once evoked that so as a final villain she was pretty lame. But I guess by the time Obito and Madara were Juubi Jinchuriki's and rinnegan techs had been slammed to all hell Kishimoto was running short of ideas to make Kaguya uniquely godlike, so we ended up with ****in ash bones as her ace in the hole. Pretty boring.
Look at the video game Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, Kaguya can go nuts opening portals and manipulating the substances within them such as acid, lava, etc to attack her opponents. Making her use all these kenkai genkai elements to overwhelm Sasuke and Naruto would have been more interesting than her just shooting bones at them the whole time. She mostly used nature to impede their movement but why just that when you have acid and lava at your beck and call? What about her thunder manipulation in the flash back? What happened to all of that? How about a mega planet busting bijuu dama and they need to phase through the explosion with the help of Obito. Idk just something epic to blow our minds instead of what we got, she just wasn't scary as she was advertised.
Are you a fan of Kaguya's fight? If so tell me why. I thought it was good up until it became 1 on 1 with Naruto and Kaguya. Starting there Kaguya lost all her mystique and I knew by then she was not gonna give them much of a hard time. Also the characters' relative lack of fear and eventual nonchalant attitudes toward her and their situations took away from the suspense greatly as it was clear Kishimoto was gonna play it safe, which he did, no Sakura death.
