His rinnegan went away as you saw on the first page, that's why his eyes are closed. He used petra path to absorb amaterasu, he could only do it because it was the last power of the rinnegan remaining.

No after amateratsu hit hashi stated he could absorb it but that's only because he was unaware that he lost the rinnagen

He can absorb ninjitsu even w/o rinnagen somehow. Look at the last panel too. He's stepping on a body absorbing the chakra naruto gave to heal his cut from Sasuke. He also used the absorption on hashirama to get sage mode.
