How would they complement each other instead of bashing their head in against one another? Imagine Obito Kamuing Itachi's Susanoo orb or something like that, I dunno.

He was tired, right after the fight he tried to make one clone and lost KCM, remember naruto in base could make upwards of a thousand clones, if he can't make one clone in KCM it means he was tired.
