Isabella kept close to Mirabelle, though the giant box jellyfish that carried her was getting quite a lot of atention. It seemed even in this remote place, the venom of the Cubozoa was still regarded as the most painful and lethal venom in the ocean. She felt pride as the etherial animal swam through the market stalls.
There was an assortment of trinkets and even a few weapons, but none grabbed her attention. She understood them to be salvaged from things lost at sea, but the market seemed quite low level for the true treasures to be for sale. Mirabelle bought a pretty little gem, which was most likely the best find they would come upon in this market.
Mirabelle, this place doesn't seem to be anything special. We should probably go in further.
There were quite a lot of amazingly intricate buildings surrounding the plaze where they were standing, but none other than the big gates that were spread open underneath a maginificent roman arc. There, a giant street ran across several large palaces and other beautiful buildings. The city seemed to open up as they swam across the main avenue, and even the people and the stores seemed to be of an higher and higher quality.
But even in this idyllic city, she could see the differences in power and influence. While many of the fish people kept a cleany attire and lofty attitude, she could see corners and back alleys populated by ragged children and shady thugs. As she kept on surveying the underbelly of Eridu, she came upon a tiny fish girl.
She was dirty and most likely poor. Her cheek had been bruised from who knows what, but her eyes were bright with life and youth. While she didn't have any hair, her hair was covered by what appeared to be cloth-like fins that cascated through her back, bright red and pink. She seemed entranced by the jellyfish beast that Isabella was ridding, and even more so by the same red "hair" that Isabella had.
She reminded Isabella of her own past, orphaned, alone. Yet, for some reason, this one seemed happy, hopeful. She thought back about Scorps, and how life wasn't so bad when he was around. After losing her eyes, she came to him, but not even him could heal her. Now, Isabella had new eyes, her old ones still entrapped in Madara's clutches. She hardened her resolve, but not before tossing a few coins for the little fish girl to stop staring.
I don't see any guard... or important person. And I can't shake this feeling of being watched. Have you studied any civilization like this? Do you know the layout of cities similar to this... Eridu?
