Hear me out, I might be wrong but here goes.
I believe Naruto said those statements to free Sasuke from the darkness, I do know that yes Sasuke made a big impact on Naruto but in the entire Part 2 you feel like Naruto was always Sasuke's big brother. I think thosr statements were used by Naruto to try to bond with Sasuke, sasuke being the guy he is never likes to openely share his feelings with anybody. Sasuke stopped to listen to him because he knew the reverse effect of Naruto being modest was happening.
Slowly he began to realize that really Naruto was guiding his path.

Then he finally admitted it in 699 when he said Naruto resembled how Itachi would treat him.
Naruto at that point was trying to bring Sasuke back home to the Leaf so he had to understand his pain. While Sasuke did motivate him, I feel Naruto motivated Sasuke much more to where the point he is today.

Manga fact, Hashirama called itachi a better shinobi than himself, Manga fact hashirama negs itachi. Thus your scan holds no weight in terms of strength :snick:

What was he supposed to say to his best friends daughter that he's a great ninja but he's beneath me. He said that out of admiration for Sasuke. If Naruto ever admits to Sasuke that Sasuke is stronger than him, then maybe I'll believe.
