I'm on the fence about this match up. I mean we didn't see all of Hiruzen's abilities but he's known as the God of Shinobi, and the Professor because he is said to have mastered all jutsu from Konoha. His stats when he was an old fart put him at perfect levels of nin, tai, and genjutsu and he was smart as hell. His only imperfections were his chakra, strength and speed, which are all casualties because of his age, so he must have been much stronger, physically. It's still vauge but I'll tell you one thing, this is going to attract hella Itachi fanboys. I don't know who'd win this one to tell the truth.

They are both very strong shinobi, but this is basically an Itachi vs. Madara or Harashima thread. The 3rd is supposed to be the strongest of all the Hokages, these are Kishi's words. even though this is a great match up, the 3rd would win. Only becuse the 3rd is in his prime. If ur talking about the 3rd in his old age, then Itachi wins. Maaan why does the Leafs strongest shinobs have to be dead or evil most of the time.

I voted for a draw. I mean it's undeniable that Itachi is a true master with the Sharingan beyond most other Uchiha. It is also undeniable that Hiruzen was the definition of "God this mother F***** is strong" in and out of his prime. Hiruzen is a master of the shinobi arts, and I would say even beyond that of Itachi, although Itachi's mastery of his unique dojutsu gives him an overwhelming amount of power. It's safe to assume that Hiruzen is fast, fraily strong, and had higher stamina then Itachi in his prime (he may have had more then Itachi when he was an old fart idk). However we don't know if he's fast enough to get away from Ama, we don't know if he has a method to get rid of Susanoo. With Enma at his side Tsukuyomi could be useless, and as seen with him defending against Tobirama's genjutsu I assume standard genjutsu won't work on him even without enma. Itachi has fairly strong ninjutsu without his MS but I wouldn't compare that to his MS jutsu, he also has great taijutsu, although I'm not sure that is a match for Hiruzen either. Itachi is probably going to have to rely on his MS and the only problem I see with that for Hiruzen would be Ama and Susanoo, although I'm not sure if he had some ways to deal with it. Hiruzen in his prime I see besting everything Itachi has to throw at him with the exception of those two techniques so I'm not sure. That's why I said a draw.

true but hizuren with taijutsu at an old age was good enough to last with the first and second and in his prime his taijutsu has to be insane everyone moves quicker in his prime i have a feeling hizuren would win in taijutsu all of itachis genjutsus are useless with enma he has fire ninjutsu as well but hizuren has insane ones to

i still think the third will win but if itachi has a chance to win he will need amatarasu and susano enma still has the cage that can maybe help hizuren get away from amatarasu because he is a stick and might not take damage from it susano is very hard to break through but the sealing thing is strong but hizuren also has reaper death seal (it wont counter the sword i know)

Hiruzen bests Itachi in ninjutsu and taijutsu. Genjutsu I may say they're even and even if they aren't Enma nullifies it. The thing with the cage, remember that the Adamantine transformation is still Enma. His body is stronger but it is said that the sword of Kusanagi (Orochimaru's sword, which I really want to know what happened to...probably in Kabuto's possession) could still hurt him. As for the flames of Ama I'm not so sure that Enma would be able to handle that either, although that can't be said for sure, but what we do know is that if Enma is hit with it, even if he doesn't feel it in that state it will still burn nonstop and then he's useless for Hiruzen to hold and use and if he transforms back he'll burn to death. We have to know if Hiruzen is strong enough or has a sheild of some sort to protect him against Ama that isn't a living creature that'll eventually die. Itachi also has the Yata Mirror and the Sword of ???(forgot the name) that can deflect elemental jutsu and seal a person in eternal genjutsu. Now I understand Itachi doesn't have the resreves to keep up Susanoo for long (last resort for Itachi against Kirin) but those are still options for him. I'm defending Itachi in this but I'm not discrediting Hiruzen. His fire technique damn sure surpass Itachi, and that is well said for somebody beating an Uchiha in fire techniques. He also has amazing earth level techniques. Him being a master of ninjutsu (possibly knowing more jutsu then kakashi) gives him the upper hand and in his prime, when he was younger (I wouldn't say during the first war but around the time he was teaching Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru, I think that may have been his peek) he is a monster just like every other Kage. The only objections I have to him winning is the uncertianties (spelling) of him being able to handle Itachi's big boys. If I was sure that there was something he could do about them I would definatley believe he would win hands down but as it stands we don't know his defense against them.
