I don't see how it wasn't a clone. It's been like 4 chapters since Hiruzen was solo'd; and if that wasn't a clone, it took Tobirama 1 chapter to bounce back from being completely reduced to dust. Kishi got some s'plainin to do.

So Tobirama comes back almost instantly and it takes 4+ chapters for Hiruzen? Seems legit.

Tobirama was destroyed in 639, and didn't return until the next chapter. When Madara was destroyed by his boulder, he returned on the next page. Chalk it up to plot if you want.
