First of all, Hashirama and Tobirama were also called the best shinobi.

Secondly, Kishi's statement about Hiruzen being the strongest isn't in the 3rd databook. I wonder why
Lastly, the databook doesnt outright say Hiruzen is the strongest. It says he was praised as or hailed as. Meaning it was an opinion amongst the people of Konoha.

The correct translation of the above scan:

Not surprising that the strongest members from the senju clan, who were known for possessing every basic skill were both known as the ultimate shinobi. It has nothing to do with the strongest Hokage debate, since they were never called that.It rather simple.

Your second argument is horrible, as well. Kishi merely expanded on Hiruzen's Bio ( he is now also the most popular hokage).Nothing more, nothing less.A retcon is the only thing that can change it and we have yet to see despite the author having multiple chances to do it with all the focus on Hashirama and Minato.

When you think about it, it's no fun backing Hiruzen. Even though he may be the strongest according to the manga, there aren't many actual feats shown which suggests he is. The only thing really proving it is a statement from iruka in part 1 and a battle against two kages forced to battle against their will.

The manga is absolute, and take the evidence as absolute if you want to, but surely it gets a bit boring repeating the same source while most vs.threads are comparing attributes?

Well you should know Hiruzen was like 72 years old yet he still was able to hold them off and seal them. It was even stated if he was only 10 years younger the battle might have ended differently, if that was only 10 years younger than imagine him in his prime which was when he got his nicknames as Professor (For knowing all of the village's jutsus) and The God of Shinobi. Hiruzen was trained by Hashirama and Tobirama so he knows what they are capable of and can make strategies to counter like he did against their Edo forms. Hiruzen had kage level chakra as an old man so imagine how much chakra he had in his prime. Give the old man some credit, student always surpass their master. Even if Hashirama was the most powerful Hokage doesn't mean he can't be beat by a ninja who's powerful in their own right, has better strategies, and knowledge on their opponent's fighting style and techniques. Hurizen lived longer so they wouldn't know anything knew he learned.

1st>2nd (Same generation), 3rd>1st and 2nd (teachers), 4th>1st,2nd,3rd (Minato never made it to his prime yet was one of the best) and Tsunade is from the Generation before Minato and can't really beat the 1st or 2nd, maybe old 3rd.
