DISCLAIMER: This isn't a "lawl Hiruzen's the strongest Hokage" thread. I just want to to list some of Hiruzen's more than impressive hype and even feats to show ya'll that he's a lot better than what many people think.
TL;DR/CONCLUSION: I'd prefer for ya'll to read the entire thread (or at least the very last part), but basically, even if Hashirama was the strongest Hokage, Hiruzen has extremely amazing hype and very impressive feats even in old age. I'd say he's easily top ten through these and possibly even around the tier of people like Hashirama; where would YOU rank him?
First off, let's start with Hiruzen's hype:
The God of Shinobi - This title is more than impressive, and it's usually looked over as nothing but a meaningless title. The thing is, this title easily outclasses titles such as "The Slug Princess" or "The Yellow Flash" that his successors have been given. To be given such a title that has no equal (bar Rikudo) should speak volumes for his previous and/or current strength.
The Professor - It's rare enough that people are labeled as a 'God,' but to receive two impressive nicknames means a lot. This basically implies that Hiruzen did know every present jutsu in Konoha at the time, or at least enough to be given this label. And the 3rd databook even states that he was the most loved Konoha because of his Ninjutsu. So he was probably well-versed in many of them too.
(In his old age) The strongest of the current Kages - This basically means that a 69 year old Hiruzen was better than
The Strongest Hokage - This is controversial, and there's a big chance that Hashirama was indeed the strongest, but this statement still puts him at least above even Minato. Not only was it stated by Iruka, but it was basically reaffirmed by Hiruzen, twice (once when Iruka said it, and second when he was confident in his ability to beat Shodai and Nidaime). So even if Hashirama's stronger, this statement should not be looked over.
The teacher of the Sanin - This speaks for itself. He trained three of Konoha's most impressive ninja, one which became a Sage, one which can regenerate, and one which is basically immortal. Only Kakashi's students have surpassed Hiruzen's in Konoha. "You need to be a good teacher to have good students" (Inferno).
A master of 1000 Techniques - I'm too lazy to find the page, but Ebisu did say this. I'll look for it later.

And now for his actually quite impressive feats:
Intelligence - The man mastered almost every, if not all, jutsu in Konoha during his time. On top of that, he learned how to Shiki Fujin only by watching Minato do it once, from a distance. To say that he's not extremely smart, when he also has a '5' in intelligence in the databooks, is pretty dumb.
Sensing/Accuracy - First off, he managed to
Strength - Even in old age, this guy was damn strong. He
Taijutsu - For a 69 year old man deprived in strength, speed, and stamina, Hiruzen was still very good in CQC. He landed two explosive tags on Shodai and Nidaime's feet, while engaging Orochimaru. Enma, who is said to be 'unbreakable,' only helps Hiruzen in Taijutsu. We have to speculate on how they'd fair in there primes, but from what we've seen they'd be a damn good combo.
Ninjutsu/Chakra Control - This is where people might say, "Oh, his feats were far from impressive against Oro! He only used like four Ninjutsu!" Well, that's because he realized that it'd be useless against immortals, so he quickly switched to going for the seal. And pretty much every Ninjutsu he used countered one of Oro's abilities, as shown
Those Damn Shadow Clones - This gets its own damn section. We all moan about how Shadow Clones have no durability and that they always get killed in one hit, but Hiruzen's are the goddamn exception. Through feats, they're more durable than Mokuton Clones and even Naruto's KM Clones. We first got a glimpse of this durability when a clone gets

and held on to two much younger Senjus with only one-third of his chakra (clones). He then continued to, while stabbed through the chest, keep a hold on Orochimaru for what seemed like hours, with only one-third of his chakra again. Imagine how strong he was in his prime, especially with him being the student of the Senju Brothers. And it's not unreasonable to assume he'd get a '5' in strength if not for his old age.Taijutsu - For a 69 year old man deprived in strength, speed, and stamina, Hiruzen was still very good in CQC. And it's amazing that even with such low chakra reserves, he used a Katon that matched Tobirama's Suiton (which is probably around the Part 1 equivalent of

in multiple places, from the front all the way to the back of the body, without poofing. Amazing. Hiruzen's clones are durable as hell, and imagine how much rape they'd cause because Prime Hiruzen could make more with even bigger chakra reserves, speed, strength, and stamina.TL;DR/CONCLUSION: I'd prefer for ya'll to read the entire thread (or at least the very last part), but basically, even if Hashirama was the strongest Hokage, Hiruzen has extremely amazing hype and very impressive feats even in old age.
