Hiruzen is a master of genjutsu in databook. His illusion wouldnt be broken easily. Not to mention someone like kisame who had a partner like samehada couldnt break kurenai's genjutsu, hiruzen knows that genjutsu, and has complete mastery over 1000 different illusions. Even a weak genjutsu can be extremely strong by the way you use it - Tobi. By these words, we can conclude that, hiruzen who has the highest intellect among all kage according to databook will cunningly employ the illusion in the most tricky manner and capitalize on the between the time lag they take to break it. They're not more durable than the shinju tree roots or Nine tails who got blown away from the leaf by enma.

VIZ made it clear that Orochimaru was talking about Hiruzen being able to finish the RDS, not defeating Orochimaru in a normal fight. Orochimaru was playing with Hiruzen and the only reason why he lost his arms was because he literally gave Hiruzen time to use RDS (Orochimaru didn't know what it was and was too curious not to see it in action).

Yes but when did Orochimaru make the statement about Hiruzen being able to kill him. I read up to the seal being used and Orochimaru hasn't said it yet. It's likely some point later towards the end.
