Sand is a tool used by mostly ninja's originating from Sunagakure. Gaara is a ninja who was granted the ability to manipulate sand, due to being the host to the one tail. Due to its properties sand can be used to attack swiftly in small quantities and used for a large, dense defensive wall. It can also be used to hold someone or something in place.
Sand has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, Sand is weak against fire, due to it turning to glass. Sand is also weak against water, due to the water weighing down sand resulting in the sand being hard to manipulate. Oil is also sands weakness having the same effect as water. For its strengths I would say sand is strong against lightning due to sand being composed of wind and earth release. The wind would negate the lighting. Ninja's that were shown using sand were Gaara,Kankurō,4th kazekage and 3rd kazekage.
* I couldn't answer question 3 >.< and about sand being heated into glass, when sasuke used amaterasu on gaaras sand how come the sand didn't turn into glass. ?*

( Suna no Jutsu ) - Sand Technique
I begin by channeling my chakra into the sand allowing me to manipulate it. I create small waves of sand that attack the chest and gut of my opponents, dealing some minor damage such as bruising. I then manipulate the sand to be used as a shield, deflecting thrown projectiles.
I would use this jutsu with a wind technique creating a sand storm, dealing damage to the opponent, while creating a distraction preventing the user from opening their eyes. I would also use this jutsu to clog up small sources of water, preventing them from using it as a water source. I would also use it to clog up machines such as puppets, preventing the mechanisms to spin.
Well this jutsu only reaches short range, and can only use small amounts of sand.
I would counter this jutsu, by simply using a large scale wind attack, blowing the sand along with the wind back at the user.

I would use this jutsu as a defense against small water jutsu's, using the clones as a shield to absorb the water. I would also use this jutsu then hide behind the two clones, while creating a wide scale wind jutsu, creating a sand storm.
If the clones are hit they reform, but this takes up some of your chakra. The justu only allows you to create two clones.
I would simply use a water jutsu, or use a wide scale water jutsu to cover the terrain, preventing them from using any sand attacks for the rest of the match.

I begin by channeling my chakra into the sand allowing me to manipulate it. I manipulate the sand to gather below your feet, making them move away along with the stream. I manipulate the sand to guide you into a tree.
I would use this move if my opponent is focusing his chakra such as sage mode, putting him off. Or I would use this move as a distraction, to follow up with another attack.
A limitation would probably be the size range of the jutsu.
I would counter this jutsu to create a pillar to shot me out from the sand, or use hurricane fist.
(Suna Shuriken) - Sand Shuriken
I begin by channeling my chakra into the sand allowing me to manipulate it. I manipulate the sand to gather into a clump. I use shape manipulation to create ten fast shurikens. The shurikens carry with them more of a blunt impact instead of the typical slicing a normal shuriken has.
I would use this jutsu to counter thrown projectiles that are thrown towards me. I would also use this jutsu to take out small orbs of fire.
Limitation of this jutsu would be the fact you can only create up to ten shurikens.
I would simply use a high powered wind jutsu or a powerful water jutsu to prevent it from traveling.

Seeing the clone poof into existence I simply fold my arms in a cool fashion whilst manipulating the sand in my gourd. I control the sand, manipulating it to transform into sand shurikens. Once the shape manipulation part of the jutsu is complete I manipulate the shuriken causing them to fly across the distance between me and the clone , hitting him square on his head causing him to poof away.
