OT: I don't know what happened in the last, but most of Hinata's appearance during the Pain fight was filler.

Sasuke can also touch the rods, that is hardcore cannon, also if I remember right, the user uses his chakra in order the suppress his opponent via the rods, like Pain did when Naruto was close by, I can't really remember the details but you get what I mean, also like with Madara and Hashi. To be blunt a weakling like Hinata wouldn't be able to touch them if the were Madara's, if Hashi's can get stopped by it(though he was an Edo) I don't see Hinata doing any better
