His eye really hits me as a truth-seeking eye with the black sclera and the properties it has. I also thought that maybe the eye he uses versus Kawaki is a normal Byakugan. We see the scar, all this fate hype because of his current eye, who knows... Maybe his current eye got ripped out.

Versus Kawaki we see Boruto activating his "Byakugan" (Which provokes a surprised expression on Kawaki face) but the latest episodes point out that his current eye is not one.

Not exactly regarding the eye but some Kanji that means Power/Energy, Completeness and thousand(?) when Boruto and Kawaki face off and the tattoos are growing plus when Boruto opens activates his eye it can be read as "Energy".
