Hidan was the one actively looking for Jin whereas Kakuzu was more concerned with his own interests of making $. This was flat out stated in the manga btw. 3) Its official that Yugito was taken out by Hidan so that Biju was assigned to Him by Akatsuki. Evidence leans toward him soloing Yugito.
