You know, I'm leaning toward you. I think if you knew the secret behind Hidan's Signiture Jutsu, 1v1'd and you are fast enough I do believe it would be easy to kill him IMO. But the main reason he's in Akatsuki is for his immortality, therefore Kakuzu can't kill him during his rage. I wouldn't go so far as to say he shouldn't be in Akatsuki, as I think he barely makes the cut, but he's definitely the weakest of all the Akatsuki when he's on his own. But when collaborating with Kakuzu his attacks really become devastating, and that what makes him so powerful and is the reason why I believe the two are the strongest 2 man team in Akatsuki. Hidan needs Kakuzu and Kakuzu needs Hidan to be immensely effective. So to make a long story short, Hidan is Akatsuki worthy but is definitely the weakest when alone, but when fighting with a partner and collaborating with them he can easily take down some of the mid tier Bijuu like he did against the Two Tails.

Does it matter hidan is strong as hell was holding good against Kakashi and shikmaru soloed asuma
I think hidan would've been badass if he was serious character instead of comic relief in akatsuki I think he played his role well

Hidan was fine in the Akatsuki. He relied on his immortality a lot. And he and Zabuza are on the same level, but Hidan's skills are pretty damn good at capturing jinjurikki. A drop of blood and he can cripple them.
Really, had he been stronger and shown more jutsu he would have been a bit too OP. . .If you think about it.
Give him the Hidden Mist and water clones and he becomes a larger threat. Like, he is a fine example of how a character should be done. Potential to be very powerful. But kept in check as to not ruin the manga with his massive OPness.

Hidan may be one of the weaker (better than zetsu though), but he was an low s-rank ninja despite anything you say.
Hidan was the perfect partner for Kakuzu, because Hidan can't get killed by Kakuzu when he's pissed or going all out.
Hidan 1v1 no intel can solo many ninja in this manga. He was a great akatsuki member.
