That was Pain's home turf, he knew the ins and the outs of it. He was bringing in Paths one by one without revealing too much, if anything it favoured Pain, not Jiraiya.

Interesting that you said that because guerrilla warefare term coined from that. small units using irregular tactics
against larger populations (like home turf enemies) by taking advantage of the terrain.

imo Whether pain had knowledge of the terrain or not is irrelevant here, the fact is jiraiya took advantage of it several times

Incorrect. Sasuke was in fact around Sannin level at the time. Capable of beating all three (i.e. Jiraiya being the hardest for him due to his arsenal, rather than the other two) Sannin in a one on one confrontation.
