i was wonderin who hayate is? or rather was?!
i think he died in orochimaru's attack to konoha during chunin exam, is that right?
but who was he?was his face even showed in the anime or manga?

basically he was one of the original proctors during the Chunin exams. He saved Hinata during Neji and Hinata's fight when Neji nearly killed her. he was also the first Konoha ninja to find out about the invasion plan by Suna and the Sound villages though was killed by Gaara, Kankurou and Temari's squad leader before he could report. Though a minor role, it was still pretty important.
