Chuunin Exams Arc
Hayate's first appearance wasn't something you would except, the fact that he had awkward coughs and eye bags. But he was chosen to be the proctor for the Final rounds of the Chuunin Exams. When the battle of Neji and Hinata Hyuga Beforth, Neji lost it and nearly killed her but Hayate and other Jounins stopped him from causing Problems.
After the inciedent, Hayate heard Kabuto and Baki hatch a plan to invade Konoha.
