2 naruto's examples: naruto time and time again up until the 4th shinobi war that sometimes even the smallest of ninjutsu can turn the tide of battle. like with pain vs naruto. he held off all but 1 of the pains (the deva was omni potent) using only what he learned to do with a jonin level shadow clone and rasangans (granted some were a step above the rest). naruto in his own way showed that all you need is time, a stratagey and or impulse to get the job done

3 that is the theme besides friendship: like sasuke vs kabutomaru with itachi. kabutomaru lost vastly weaker opponets because of itachi's stratagey. his arrogants caused by what he gain got the better of him.

4 things you want to protect: naruto has always been a underdog that is undeniable. until recently when he got bijuu mode did naruto jump up the ranks. but what kept him going was his the things he loved which are his friends, family (sasuke is considered a brother to him) and the dream he holds dear that seems to run in the famliy

Some people are just better suited to fight others, yet people on this site just seem to go by how big the jutsu is (*cough Madara cough*). Its all about strategy an matchups. Shika-hidan was a good example. Another could be if Suigetsu (immune to physical attacks) happened to fight Tsunade (only uses physical attacks).

exacly....but hes not lol, he is *was* invincible and no one could stop him. its true you can make the most out of the simplest of moves but when faced with overwhelming power sometimes the chances or below that of zero

Completely agree. Just cause someone has more power, doesn't mean they cant get knocked off by someone below them, but i guess it works the other way around too. Someone like Ten Ten cant automatically be assumed to win over Neji because she is an underdog.

I totally believe that if Deva was active from the beginning Naruto's "strategy" (lol) wouldn't have worked.

Shikamaru fights are always the ones that show this properly.

Oh yeah, your last point about "things you want to protect" seems like a whole lot of plot-no-jutsu to me.
