The thing about Naruto is that his views and goals are quite unrealistic as well. They're literally the two extremes on the spectrum.
What i think you made a great point about is that Sasuke has shown from this chapter that has has had pretty much no character development. While I hate both characters and think their beliefs are ****ing stupid and unrealistic, Naruto's at least developed over the course of the series and has continuously molded his belief system. While I think a lot of that has made him a far worse character, at least he's trying to do things the way he feels is right. Whereas Sasuke is still the whiny emo shit who thinks he's alone despite all the love and care and support he got from the people from Konoha, and he's clearly learned nothing.
+ rep to your post, it was really well done.
Thanks.
Naruto used to have unrealistic views, but has continuously molded his belief system as you said.
He has done this for the better as well. He improved throughout the series in about every way.
You still find his believes unrealistic nowadays? Why exactly?
Basically his way is not giving up.
Where in the past he thought he could do it all alone (unrealistic), he has learned that he cant and matured a lot.
He has gained a lot more acceptance about himself (embracing the dark Naruto at the waterfall of truth) and others.
He has gained more believe in himself, but especially in others.
He has learned to not let himself be consumed by hatred, but how to stop cycles of hatred (especially by befriending Kurama). He befriended Nagato too. He befriended Obito.
These people have played a huge part in the death of many people that Naruto loved, yet he befriended them eventually.
When Naruto falls, he will eventualy step up again (also with the help of others, due to letting them help him and believing in them) and not stop walking towards goals that make the world and his life a better place. He will not get lost of that path.
There is no formula for peace or a better world. The only thing you can do is believing in yourself and others and to not give up. Even if you fall, which can be perfectly understanble, you have to eventually get up somehow. You have to adapt and not give up and become lost. Maybe you could call that a formula though.
This can be incredibly hard or seem impossible in some circumstances, but what other option is there?
The So6P was a ****ing idiot for giving Sasuke that power, the sage is just such a naive fool, and an overall disappointing character. Oh, and he's still around this chapter >.>
I like your thread. It gives a good discussion.
I dont think that the sage was an idiot though. I do believe that he was lost in the sense, that he didnt know what would make things right anymore. Not due to being lost in darkness though. He tries to learn from the past.
In the past, giving only Ashura power, didnt work out and the sage felt that giving his power to both Indra and Ashura would be a better solution. So this time he gave it to both Sasuke and Naruto.
Even though it seems at first that this doesnt work out either, it can actually still work out.
If Naruto can change Sasuke for the better and that is something the sage believes Naruto can do.
According to the sage, he see's something different in Naruto than the previous hosts of Ashura.
So the sage Hagoromo tries to learn from the past and see the differences in the present as well, which he lets take
part in his decision. He see's something important in Naruto, in this latest host of Ashura.
He believes in Naruto and that Naruto can change that which requires change.
Naruto was able to change Kurama, who had become the embodyment of hatred.
Love can breed hatred, but the sage believes that this hatred can be changed again to love.
That is also what Naruto experienced throughout his life.
The sage left both his powers in this world. He didnt give them all to Naruto, but distributed them among Naruto and Sasuke.
I dont think Naruto could have changed Sasuke if Naruto was given only the body powers and Sasuke nothing or Naruto both the body and eye powers and Sasuke nothing.
That would not have worked out I believe.
