There has been one confirmed pass-down so far. Literally just Maddy/Hash Brown so what does this sentence even mean?

Personally in my head I believe the headcanon that Danzo/Hiruzen, Oro/Jiraiya & Nagato/Yahiko were all transmigrants too that were never really realised or died before they could reach their potential. Failed potential migrants. Know there's not a lot to back that up, but it'd make this Zetsu statement and the entire Ootsutsuki ordeal a LOT simpler.

Anyways, Madara and Hashirama are the most recent transmigrants before Naruto and Sasuke. Based on

the spirit cant be in more than one person at a time so it cant be nagoto and yahiko or danzo and hiruzen, those are just rivalries. For an exact number, you're asking a question that cant be answered as kishi didnt say a definitive number of people.

As for the future indra and ashura spirits, none. the spirits kept passing onto another person because they could never stop fighting as brothers. Now that they have finally made peace through Naruto and Sasuke there is no need for them to continue to move on as a spirit.

There were quit a few transmigrants before Hashi/Madara. But Kishi seen $ $ign$ early and didn't bother to give them any screen time even though they are mentioned (even though it was a slight mention) he wanted to get quick money instead of that long money he should've went for. We shouldn't know the ending yet and the Gaiden with the kids shouldn't exist right now, the dude just shitted on a great manga/anime that had potential to surpass Toriyama's DBZ.
