What a lot o people do not realize is how the First Hokage Senju Hashirama is a caricature of Native americans.
Why? First of, lets start with his appearence:
Tall (1, 85m), with a chiseled face and tanned with long straight dark hair
His unique ability, the mokuton, is a reference of the "nature loving, tree hugging" mentality that a lot of people have about Native americans (plus the fact that his favorites phrases were "The vast lands fertile" and "Heaven's garments are without seams" that refer to perfect beauty without any artificial elements") as well as the bad stereotype that Native Americans are gamblers, shown as how Hashirama that taught Tsunade to gamble:
