i don't think, hashirama had to deal with madaras "perfect susanoo".
coz i assume, one needs the fully evolved sharingan (= rinnegan) to
perfect ones susanoo.
and that is why for hashirama this "monster" would be new as well.
it is mentioned somewhere in the manga, that madara gained his rinnegan at the end of his last fight with hashirama. and it sais as well, that madara died in that fight, so no possibility for madara to test perfect susanno until now

and that leads me to another fine theory
tobi said once that pains rinnegan belongs to him. i think that coz (whoever tobi really is) he was the first to loot dead madaras body, thats why he speaks of his rinnegan. would even explain why he has to implant it, since madara can easily switch between eyes.

You have to remember that he has been upgraded beyond his prime. Anybody with hashirama's dna gets an energy boost and thats why all his clones can use susano. If he didnt have the dna i very much doubt he has that much chakra to even spare some on 25 clones let alone susano. Also note that his clones are hashirama's ability

I am pretty sure the match between the Senju and Uchiha were one of the most intense. Remember that this was Madara and not Edo Madara, without the wood release, and that he didn't have the Rinnegan yet. He only had the Kyuubi.

we all know madara lost in valley of the end and gained rinnegan after, until madara himself says how and why he lost then this is all assumption. the first beat ems madara not this godly one. we do not know what kind of techs was used in that battle besides the kyubi and wood style. i am sure we are leading up to what happened there soon. also they fought multiple times so who knows what the score was between the two. lets just realize that both of them are top two from their time.

This whole using edo madara to prove how strong the 1st was is bs to me. Thats like saying wow sasuke must be the ultimate beast since he beat naruto. That battle happened way back. Naruto is way different now. Same with the 1st vs madara. Yeah the 1st won. But way back. Before madara became a super edo and had rinnegan and his dna to allow him to use wood techniques. Plus madara can be using these techs on a whole other level. Ex would be the 3rd can use reaper death seal but not on the level as the 4th. Yamato can use wood jutsu but not on the 1st level. Madara can easily be using wood techs on a far beyond level than the first due to all his upgrades. Im not saying the 1st is weak. But seriously the battle hasnt been shown. We dont know how strong the 1st is and using edo madara as a reference is wrong.

What if Hashirama was able to turn:

• Hashi VS Madara + Kurama
  . into
• Hashi + Kurama VS Madara

The odds should then swing into Hashirama's favor if he stole control of the Kyuubi and used it to fight Madara.

Hashirama and Madara were both capable of completely controlling the tailed beasts. It was said that Hashirama could control them like pets. Plus, Hashi's ability to control the bijuu's were amplified by his crystal necklace. I believe that Hashirama's crystal necklace gave him the edge over Madara when it came to controlling Kurama.

The point that I'm trying to make is that perhaps Hashirama stole control of Kurama, with the help of that necklace, and then used Kurama to secure a victory against Madara.
