Hashirama cells studies means one like to study about Shinju/Juubi/Gedo without literally known it related with Kaguya. With so many research done by Orochimaru and Danzo some experiment shown with unnatural access to S/T jutsu such as Nue, Shins, and possibly Obito.
MS never actually grant user to dimension traveling but Rinnegan/Rinne Sharingan do which we see other character to use it is Sasuke, Hagoromo and Kaguya. The case of Obito Kamui awaken his S/T jutsu right after he awaken his Mokyuton and MS it maybe just delude power not in tiers with Sasuke or Kaguya level of S/T jutsu. We as reader blindly thoughts that maybe MS is the power that grant ability to S/T jutsu but it maybe wrong it could be linked with Shinju/Gedo/Jubii which is Kaguya power.
Boruto by inheritance is natural offspring with both Hamura and Hagoromo power which linked with Kaguya power, therefore his doujutsu will use Kaguya doujutsu special traits which is S/T and dimensional travel. Hamura has said to live in moon and grows but how come his offspring live on earth, how did his has his spouse to begin with. Hamura tenseigan it maybe a power granted to freely travel between earth and moon or whatever dimension he wish for.
My verdict is Boruto doujutsu not just a regular byakugan it's special byakugan and it is a power that can move freely between galaxy, dimension you name it as well the prime key to harvest tenseigan.
