There's no manga evidence to prove for a fact they were there; however, the summon conversation SMD posted plus the fact Jiraiya still couldn't believe Hanzo was defeated while he fought Pain in SM could suggest they did. Though, they alone cannot push the argument to being cloudy.

I belive he could have beat them but maybe tsunade dis not release the chakra on her head. No toads on jaraya shoulders so safe to assume he wasn't in sage mode and oro was never a sage and could obly summon snakes. I believe it wasn't a bsttle with summons as I believe the toads are better at combat than any other summon especially that salamader

Nagato/pain stated to jiraiya that had Hanzo not been lacking in training and wasting his life away by durrounding himself with guards and yadda yadda, he may not have won.
Idk I think you need the Yinseal to summon Katsuyu, and Tsunade didn't have it until after the team split up, reguardless, they wasn't as powerful as they are now, so it really isn't a big deal that he was able to beat them. Each one of them can solo him now
This thread is problematic because you don't know how long the war lasted but it appeared to have lasted some time. It looks like they were in there early 20's here as Tsunade currently holds a form reminiscent of what looks likes mid 30s.
Further in the scans we have involving that battle no summons were seen either than Ibuki

few have pretty good reason to believe that the war lasted some time as by the time that Dan died Tsunade was already one of the legendary sannin. It's likely that Hanzo was one of the earlier battles in the war.

In fact the entire relationship between Dan and Tsunade occurred throughout the course of the war after Nawaki's death.

Given that Tsunade developed homophobia from Dan's death the battle with Hanzo obviously occurred before hand, and Tsunade was evidently not reliant on Katsuyu at that time as she didn't have the Yin Seal.
Also given that Nawaki was 12, to suggest Tsunade was in her 30's seems a bit odd.
But most importantly, to reiterate the manga never depicted them having summons at that specific point in time. Tsunade became known as the slug rincess at some point, yes but nothing suggests she used any of the legendary summons were used in that battle, and the war looks like it took place over several years as opposed to this war which has only lasted a few days. Especially given there were numerous times in which Chiyo battled hanzo, and multiple times Tsunade countered Chiyo's poison.
They didnt use their summons when they fought him as far as we know. Hanzo could possibly still beat SM naruto because he deal with poisons. Put unlikely Naruto can send him and his salamander packing.

-Because Hanzo had already solo the summon with the entire konoha shinobi Squads+Sannin.
The only reason people its in denied, because it implies their favorite character being solo by Hanzo, that its how NB works, they do not care about getting the real facts, its all about wanking, overrating/underrating x character for conviniencens!.
Jiraya the one who had Sennin was shocked after hearing that someone like Hanzo got solo by pain!
