The Survey Corps (調査兵団 Chōsa Heidan) is composed of expeditionary soldiers that fight the Titans in their own territory outside of the walls. Their main goal is to discover more about the origins and source of the Titans.

Most of them were dead or badly injured

And they revealed they hadn't made a difference , they still know 0 info about the titans

without her intelligence People might not figure out the titan weak point and it Leeds to the end of human race .

I didn't like her at first because
Before i know her someone told me she is similar to uzumaki karin

So i was expecting a trashy character but she turned out to be wonderful and nothing like karin (maybe the crazy part but hanji is more like into science while karin into sluttness )

Hanji is badass and she really had a decisive role in most of the "new discoveries" at this point in the manga. She is a skilled soldier, too. She can hold her own in a battle.

Hanji is not afraid of anything, so of course she is badass
