Kishi left a lot of potential on the table after killing off Haku. Not only in strength, but in character development. If Haku was alive today, he would make a great mizukage and would be in the top 10 IMO.

At around Naruto and Sasuke's age (which was 12) Haku was far superior to them in just about every aspect. Kakashi might have mentioned Haku was stronger than he was, depending how you look at the text.

In the battle on the bridge, Haku could have easily ended the fight, if he had that killer intent; the fight would have lasted 10 seconds. At the beginning, Haku chose to not hit 1 vital organ on Sasuke; instead Haku chose to go soft, in hope that Sasuke would surrender. Which he did not. So Haku continued to punish him. Naruto entered, to make it a 2 vs 1, Haku still dominated. We all know how it went from there, Haku did the same thing to Sasuke as he did to Zabuza (put him in an apparent death like state), Naruto got angry, used nine tails and broke the mirrors. Haku still had energy left but chose not to fight. ( A character flaw, that could have been developed if Kishi kept Haku alive). Looking back at that fight though, Haku made a mockery of Naruto and Sasuke, and dominated that fight, while being the same age. If Haku was kept alive, and continued to train, who knows how strong he could have been. Also, Haku was held back by Zabuza his whole life...imagine if he had one of the three sannin to train him...ouch. Sky is the limit.

That also factors in to this, now many people say Sasuke at his current level would solo Haku...which is true. Keep in mind, Sasuke got 3 extra years of training with Kakashi/Orochimaru. If you give Haku that training, he might have been close to the same level as Sasuke, seeing how far ahead he was at the fight on the bridge, being the same age.

Another thing I would like to add is Haku's crystal ice mirrors.

Haku was on the ground, teleported from his mirror up into the sky, and took out 3 ninjas, no problem. That Kekkei Genkai Haku possessed had so much potential to grow even stronger, that was only a glimpse of what he could do. Imagine if he put poison on his needles, similar to what Sasori did. Deadly.

Also, Haku was smart. He knew exactly where the vital organs were, very accurate with his needles. He could outthink you on the battle field, and deceive you. Here is one example. While being constantly made fun of for this, Haku looks like a girl. This however, is very useful. he can easily disguise himself, similar to what he did when he met Naruto in the forest, and deceive others into believing he is this sweet innocent person, only to backstab them later. Very useful.

That was just some of my thoughts, I felt Kishi made the right call killing off Zabuza, but not Haku. Haku had so much room to develop, not only in strength, but in character. He could have learned, in some cases, it is better to think of yourself and not to give your life up so easily. Also could have learned to grow that "killer instinct". With Haku's natural speed, Kekkei Genkai, great backstory, likeable personality, Ninja IQ, and more, I feel Haku would have made an awesome ninja, if he was still here today.

@SMD, I really like your signature, Adventure Time is a really great cartoon!

OT:
Haku had the potential to become a great ninja, you're right.
However, a healthy does of Plot no Jutsu took care of that.
I think Kishimoto only made him sacrifice himself to save Zabuza in order to add to Kakashi's TnJ.

This is a good thread, you make a good point proving just how much potential Haku had. I think he could have attained High Jounin to low Kage rank had Haku gotten the chance to progress like Naruto and Sasuke got to. Granted, he wouldn't have been as strong but he's a smart shinobi who has a fairly versatile arsenal around his unique KKG and his speed allows him to keep up with some of the higher tier characters.

Haku definitely doesn't get enough love around here but that's what happens when you don't get that much panel time.

Naruto could've easily killed him.. But yeah he had major potential. Isn't he the only character to ever have the crystal ice style?

I agree, Haku could've been a low Kage tier shinobi with some love. Ice Release has potential to be OP as hell and one handed seal speed was badass.

Thanks man I appreciate it! Haku is my favorite character so I am pretty biased when looking at how strong he would have been. From an unbiased point, I think Haku would be top 17-15. Maybe top 13 idk haha

Yup, it was a Kekkei Gengai, which is why it is my favorite jutsu of all time. Only one person has it making it unique.

Don't know if I'd go that far. Even with Haku living longer, we still some hella beasts in the manga who have been shown to have great reflexes and intelligence themselves. There's also people who are just a bad match up for Haku. He's a high caliber shinobi but I don't see him putting up a huge fight against those who I'd include in my top 20. He's strong but the manga has entered a new level upon the war arc.

Yeah, I see your point. It really is a who knows kind of thing. It would all depend on what kind of training Haku got, and unlocking new techinques to add with his mirrors. Maybe he could have gotten even faster, in addition to the one handed seals. Idk, youre probably right though.

You've made a lot of good points. I agree with a lot of them. It's just too bad he's dead because none of those points matter now. Not trying to be a *****, just saying..

How dare you try to be a bigger fanboy of Haku than me!

This is unacceptable behavior!

That being said, yes. Haku was an amazing shinobi, and honestly he was a perfect character for my taste in character.

1. Smart

2. Kind/gentle

3. Ice Power

4. Epic design (I'm a sucker for masks)

He was destroying people on the battlefield during the Shinobi war.. his Hyouton had extreme potential. From weapons, to transportation to balance destabilization.

He'd easily have been a high jounin to low Kage level.
