everyone is going to say itachi beats him easily. however i dont see how thats possible. gai with his gates is physically stronger and faster than itachi so itachi wont be able to keep up. gai can read him by his feet so he should be a good match and genjutsu shouldnt work. gai with his gates can only be countered by itachi's susanoo. amaterasu wont hit gai because he's too fast and gai knows not to look in to itachi's eyes so tsukuyomi shouldnt effect him. honestly i dont see susanoo landing its sword on gai so i say they wear each other out and itachi dies from overusing susanoo and gai is severely injured from opening 7 gates. everyone is going to say itachi but i think gai with his gates strength and speed can push itachi to his death. dont get me wrong itachi is all around better but gai with his gates can push itachi to use susanoo and itachi will die as a result. itachi is better than most ninja but honestly i dont think he can win a drawn out battle. long battles against high level ninja are his weakness. he is definitely capable of winning but he wont because of his sickness and overusing MS. people are going to say itachi can put him in a genjutsu in a second and kill him easily but i dont see genjutsu being that ridiculously good even for itachi. the only time we've seen genjutsu that good is when he used it against naruto and naruto is an idiot and terrible at genjutsu so that isnt a good example. also tsukuyomi worked against kakashi because he looked at itachi's eyes but gai wont do that. and then people will say if he isnt looking at his eyes he cant dodge amaterasu because he wont know when its coming. the reason this isnt true is because when gai is in his gates he is always moving. he doesnt need to see when amaterasu is coming because he is always moving. honestly in my opinion i see gai walking away from this battle alive and itachi dead. gai may not land the killing blow but itachi will die because of his sickness and MS. itachi isnt invincible. he is incredibly powerful but the same thing that makes him powerful (MS) will get him killed in long battles. i see gai winning but i can really go either way because itachi is incredibly skilled. however it wont be easy for either one of them to win.

And do you remember in shippuden when he was fighting naruto chiyo & kakashi, And kakashi was like ''dont look in his eyes'' And naruto was like ok, then Itachi raised his ''Finger'' & naruto looked at his ''finger'' and was trapped in the Genjutsu. Useless taijutsu, you make me laugh. Taijutsu is just amazing if you can master it. At the beginning of the show at chunnin exams rock lee could have taken anyone down except for gaara and that was just 4 gates or 5 im not sure. Now Gai has mastered all 7 gates and maybe 8th. The 7th gates took down kisame so fast. Also sharingan cant follow that type of speed especially since you have to move your head if hes behind you. Im not saying he would win but i think they would both die.
