Looks:
Gustav is a rotund, aging man with an established flair in the way that he dresses. With stunning, dark brown eyes and a flaxen beard he makes sure to keep himself well groomed before entering the public sphere. Full of expression and jubilance despite his age, he shows all of the right emotions in order to make a sale or secure a deal. He almost always wears formal attire, including a pronounced jacket and his signature leather gloves. His cane, which he uses both because of his weak knees and for appearances, is with him at all times. His hair is almost always covered by a large, cylindrical hat but is kept fairly short. It features the same bright, flaxen hue as his beard; refusing to gray with his increasing age. His sword, which is prominently kept at his side, is actually an unsharpened prop that is used entirely as a deterrent instead of a defensive measure. Most notable about Gustav would be his shoes, which he has begun attempting to make himself in order to sell wholesale, which are generally considered to be "flashy, unreasonable, and altogether unfit for any athletic purpose."

Personality:
Gustav has a forward facing personality, which is used to handle customers and clients, as well as the way that he interacts when he is out of the public eye. Generally speaking, he is a boisterous, loud, and altogether extremely expressive individual when anywhere outside of his own home. With an extremely quick wit and knack for numbers, he is analytical and strategic on macro and micro levels. His business, which is entirely managed on his own, was established because of his ability with numbers and personable nature, allowing him to form long lasting bonds within his communities and with business partners, suppliers, and distributors. A dedicated optimist and is constantly looking for a deal, refusing to give up on a sale until the last shred of hope has been swiped from his coinpurse. He is charismatic and loves to haggle, both when buying and selling, seeing it as a way to interact with customers in an attempt to retain their business for the foreseeable future. He speaks with an educated air, predominantly coming from his background related to schooling as opposed to fighting.

When on his own or with close friends Gustav retains his overall cheery and optimistic nature, while remaining a bit more sedated than when he is within his shop or out in the marketplace. Interacting with so many people in such an excitable, cheery way can be emotionally and physically draining, resulting in him wanting to spend time off in a more relaxed and refined environment. His home is filled with fine liquors and books, both of which he considers himself to be something of a fanatic for, along with a few special trinkets that he has been able to procure in his many years of trading. His slight smile, which almost never leaves his face regardless of setting, has become something of a trademark for him within the towns where he has established himself for an extended period of time. Lastly, Gustav has lived a predominantly nomadic lifestyle and in doing so has made acquaintances throughout the continent, although prefers not to make long lasting or close friends because of his transient nature.

As he is reaching an older age, he is looking for an opportunity to establish a headquarters in a place where he is able to settle down and expand his empire. With an ear to the ground and his seasoned eyes watching, he is preparing to begin a new venture and bring wealth to a village that he will be able to call his own.

Rank/Chakra Info:

N/A, he is a merchant with no ninja capabilities. He has never received any form of special training, or any training, regarding using chakra or fighting.

Background Information:

Gustav Brot was born in the Land of Fire 47-years-ago into the family of a small merchant, predominantly focused on selling bread and small essentials. As he grew up his father, Liam Brot, taught him the importance of running a store, managing client relationships, and altogether everything that he needed to know in order to someday be able to run the shop on his own. When he was five years old his father expanded his business into a neighboring town, resulting in him having to move while his mother stayed behind to manage the store in their absence. For the next six years he spent the majority of his time either assisting his father with small things in the store, such as stocking or helping butter up customers on account of him being a small and uneducated child who couldn’t really do much when it comes to actual labor, or being educated by a private tutor at the behest of his parents.

Gustav quickly fell in love with his studies, resulting in him leaving his father’s store at the age of 15 to pursue his education full time. He apprenticed under multiple different merchants throughout the Land of Fire, spending the first two years with a silk and cloth merchant before working under a weaponsmith until the age of 19. He began to apprentice under a cordwainer and haberdasher until his father suddenly passed shortly after he turned 21, resulting in him having to leave his apprenticeships and take over his father’s stores. He immediately sold the original store within his hometown, allowing his mother to move in with him while he established himself at the store he worked in when he was younger. He began to widely increase the wares offered, shifting from the all but entirely unprofitable enterprise that had kept his father in financial arrears for so long, starting with silks and weaponry. Before long he was able to establish a large, loyal clientele that adored his personal flair and expertise. He sold his store and moved to Chungsu, opening up a large marchant’s enterprise focused on providing everything that an inspiring or established ninja could possibly need in order to maximize their opportunities for success on the battlefield.

It was within Chungsu that Gustav was first able to heavily establish himself monetarily, both due to its size and suitable geographical location for sourcing all sorts of materials that would become popular within the city. He expanded his storefront multiple times, causing him to require the help of multiple workers and a fairly large staff. After being robbed multiple times from fairly small time criminals, he decided to carry a sword in order to try and deter or defend himself from any attacks. While the sword acted as an adequate deterrent for the still relatively young and lively Gustav, he had no practice with it and it eventually became unmaintained, resulting in the blunted and unusable mess that it is today.

After working within Chungsu for several years and guaranteeing the financial stability for both himself and his mother, he decided to take his wares on the road in order to maximize his name recognition and connections abroad. Leaving at the age of 30, he decided to visit every land possible and educate himself on the history, resources, and financial capabilities of each region. After several years on the road and a dedication to his practice his mother, who was left once again to tend to the store in his absence, passed away. This resulted in him returning home shortly to sell his remaining assets within Chungsu and deal with his mother’s remains before heading out once more, this time with a focus on furthering his academic capabilities before deciding where to establish a shop once more. He would spend the next six years studying under a series of tutors, furthering his love for books and creating a more serious drive within him to be able to devour knowledge wherever it could possibly appear. At the age of 41, satisfied with his studies, he decided once more to open a store in order to further his already impressive earthly possessions. He decided to establish himself within the towns of Tairadachi, known both for its river access to the Gaikotsu Bay and a relatively peaceful nature with limited clashes between ninja clans.

Once again, Gustav was able to prove himself as an expert in multiple fields. He established stores in multiple small towns, using the strategic river access provided by the area and his vast network of connections to source materials from Lands previously unable to reach the somewhat isolated and small cities of the region. Continuing to increase in age and with relatively few violent events to worry about, Gustav was able to create a flourishing business without the worries that accompanied working within a large metropolitan area like Chungsu. For the next six years he would continue to expand his businesses and local connections, resulting in an almost monopolistic stranglehold on the local economy. As he reached his 47th birthday, however, he began to realize how boring and drab the life of a smalltown merchant really was. Although the security and profitability they offered was second to none, the diminishing returns he began to feel from increasing his wealth did not alleviate the fact that he constantly felt like he needed more adventure and action within his life. At the age of 47, with a large gut, blunted sword, and large book of contacts at his hip, he decided to sell all of his stores once more before traveling once more in the attempts of finding somewhere with a more interesting clientele in order to establish himself.
