With the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto V being released on Wednesday, I decided to make a wishlist of what I would like to see in the game. Of course anything that they make would be awesome, but I would love if they had some of this stuff too.
Better AI
The AI in all the Grand Theft Auto games I have played (GTA: Vice City, San Andreas, and IV) have been good. In GTA IV, if you committed a crime I believe that civilians walking by who have seen you, can call the police with their cell phones. And in IV you could occasionally hear someone speaking on their cellphone as well. All that was great, but I would love for them to go even further with the AI. Like, when a person is talking on the cellphone very loud, another person who is reading a newspaper on a bench, will tell them to quiet down, then that escalates into a fight which draws a crowd of other people, or even the police. Also, seeing people get beaten up in an alley or even someone being robbed or killed (not by the player but by another NPC) would add a very nice touch to the game.
Time Setting
I would be okay with any time setting Rockstar dishes out for GTA V, but to be honest I would love to see a present-day setting or maybe a near-future setting. I'm not talking 1000 years into the future, maybe 30 or so, but I'm more focused on that present day setting. Yes, GTA IV was the present-day but a good number of new technologies have occurred between 2008 and 2011 (Ipad anyone), sure it wouldn't be too different but in another city, I'm sure it would be a breath of fresh air.
Bigger Area
One of the main complaints of GTA IV was that it wasn't as large as it's predecessor San Andreas which was very large and expansive (I even found myself lost at times). So, a larger area would definitely make Rockstar fans more receptive of this game. An area the size of Red Dead Redemption or San Andreas would be great, an area even bigger than those too would be spectacular as long as there is stuff to do.
Different City/Region/Country etc.
All Grand Theft Auto games with the exception of GTA: London have been set in the 48 states (Yes I know there is fifty) of America. And rumors have been going around that GTA V will be no different. However, rumors are rumors and in the event that they turn out to be true, I hope that another place outside of America is brought forth in GTA V. I think it would be neat if the game was inspired by European cities such as London, Berlin, Paris etc. However, if it is set in America, an area around the Great Lakes region would be nice.
Customization
I've noticed in all GTA games that on the same street you will have people who look alike, wear the exact same clothes, etc. And I know the reason that they do this obviously, because they aren't going to create all different pedestrians in the game. However, it would be nice if some of the clothes were randomly mixed up meaning that two people who look the same in the game have different clothes so that it feels like they are two different people, even though they aren't. Of course they may add more models of pedestrians into the game, but randomly mixing up things like that can shake the game up a bit. Also, being able to have a better variety of clothing like in San Andreas, haircuts, tattoos, piercings, etc. would make the game more fun and can give the person playing the character a sense of individuality. Keep in mind I'm not asking for Character creation.
More cellphones, vehicles, and other tech and Walk-in Areas,
San Andreas introduced the cellphone to us, though we could only answer it (not sure if we could make calls, it's been a while since I played). However in IV it allowed us to make calls, receive calls, send texts, receive text, change the wallpaper of the phone and so much more. The only thing I didn't like was that the phone itself was very basic and bland, and there only seemed to be one type of phone in the game. I think it would be very cool to have different types of cellphones such as touchscreen, slide phones, flip etc. And the phones could be customizable so you can decorate it any color and new features should be available to the cellphones such as internet access, games, an mp3 built into the phone, and much more. The civilians walking around can be shown accessing these features and if you (the player) want their phone just beat them up and take it. A greater variety of vehicles should also be accessible, like planes (which were not able to be used in IV), trains, and a variety of different cars from the past to the present day. By other tech, I mean laptops, tablets, cameras, and different technologies we use every day.
More than 1 main character
Rumors that have been circulating is that there will be more than 1 character. Now, rumors are just rumors, but if this rumor happens to be true I would be ecstatic. It would be very fun to be able to see the point of view of different people within the same game. What makes me even more excited is that this could spark a whole new tradition in GTA franchise, a female main character. I know most of you guys can't really see a woman stealing cars, robbing people, and then killing them, but just because you can't see it, doesn't mean you don't want to see it. And if it emasculates you, then play as one of the other main characters in the event that GTA V does have more than one main character.
More fun
GTA IV was great but in all honesty it was a little too serious for me, San Andreas was total fun and could be serious when it wanted to be. A game as fun as San Andreas would be a must-buy for me.
Here's my wishlist, post yours
