The numbers in Espada never were about power since Ulquiorra proved to be the most powerful of them and he was number 4. Grimmjow was probably Adjuchas or something when he was fighting Ichigo. If he somehow ascended to Vasto Lorde form, he'd be a lot more powerful. Looking forward to it either way.

Ulq. never proved himself to be the most powerful, just the most impressive to readers. Barragan would have killed him and he's also the only one that should be mentioned in a possible misnumbering scenario. The King of Hueco Mundo was arguably given the number 2 seat simply as an insult for standing up to Aizen.

There's a reason why he faced Ichigo at the end. Being the only one who can achieve 2nd Resurrection form should also be an obvious hint. Numbers were never indicators of power. By that logic, 0 should have been the most powerful, which he obviously wasn't.
