LOL, Griffith did say you're either with him or against him and so far all Berserk fans either love him or hate him.
As for the movies, unlike the anime, they will continue past the Eclipse and they plan on animating the Black Swordsman saga but I'm not gonna lie somethings get left out like Zodd throwing his sword to Guts in the doldrey, the princess and ministers burning, Guts having a good talk with Judeau and Corkus, Wyald and his men don't get a moment either.>_<

But other then that pretty much everything else is there, Zodd, Guts vs 100 men, Griffith *** scene etc. It's much better animated the the normal series but some of the sg animation makes it a bit gamey when they fight with armor but you get used to it quickly and it improves as it goes on. I don't like how the character development is done either, in the movie you'd have trouble knowing band of the hawk members by name, mostly it's about Guts, Griffith and Casca which I don't like since the Eclipse won't have the same reaction when it happens. Oh yeah, Skull Knight is in this unlike the anime and he fights Zodd too.

Judeau, Corkus, Pippin and Rickert get some shine in movie 2 but still not satisfactory, unless they do it in movie 3 which I've yet to watch, I read somewhere that the Eclipse in the movie surpasses the manga but dunno if it's true.

I don't exactly hate the guy, I understand his resolve he wants to accomplish his dream and is willing to throw away anything to get that. However there were countless times where he went above and beyond simply doing what he had to EG: the whole Casca thing during the Eclipse.

I honestly feel that Guts should get revenge to the fullest and at least get to tear Griffith's intestines out for that. However with them heading off towards Elfheilm I don't see that happening until the far off future if at all due to Casca's mental state and Guts willingness to protect her til the day he dies. I think I'll give the movies a try along with the anime, I have the free time for it xD

Yeah, Griffith felt that Guts was taking over his life slowly so in the eclipse once he became femto he wanted to prove that everything still belonged to him including Casca, it was his way of saying "I have the power" but that turned out to be his way back to the human world so I don't know, maybe it was his plan all along to have that demon childs body to reincarnate.xD

Guts as of now has been more focusing on the people he's traveling with and Casca, maybe he will find a new purpose once they reach Elfhelm, it's been less about revenge as he's been traveling with Casca and others. Griffith is pretty much savour of the world so I don't know how things will play out, maybe Griffith will want Guts to come after him so Griffith can kill him because good can't exist without evil or something like that.
