This seems more like a "Favorite video game franchise" thread than a "greatest video game franchise" thread.
Anyway, my favorite game franchises are Final Fantasy and GTA. Followed by Uncharted, Pokemon, and even the Jak series.

I thought more than half of you guys were going to say mgs and resident evil.. Hmmm, bealiveable or not I havent played a single game of zelda, and I could agree with you guys on pokemon but only on the nintendo systems. I remember when i was around 5 years old playing non stop the pikachu yellow version on the gameboy pocket....

Resident Evil.
a few others, Silent Hill, Elder Scrolls, MGS, Mortal Kombat, Zelda, stuff like that.

Call of Duties just based on the money they have made.... they are probably the most successful first person shooter
i believe the Final Fantasies are also the best rpg games even though i never played any of them but when you think of rpg FF is the first name to be said..
Madden and 2k.. they are a monopoly of football and basketball games. who competes with Madden and 2k?!?! street? blitz? please.. its almost illegal how only one company makes the football and sport games.
for Fighting games Street Fighters and Mortal Kombat. still up and running for decades now... they are seniors of the fighters while Soul Calibur and Tekken are like rookies..
nintendo games like Mario, Pokemon and Legend of Zeldas.. speaking on pokemon i remember when black and white came out and people in my age group were like, "damn new pokemon is coming out i need a gameboy ds" mind you these are the playboys, gangsters, cool kids and weed heads at age like 18-22 and they are stressing on getting the new pokemon games cuz my generation is when Pokemon became popular. my generation recalls playing gameboy color and playing red blue and yellow version...
