When I watched the pilot I watched it out of spite thinking it would suck but I moved up to cautiously optimistic. As the show went on, I enjoyed it more and more. But with just a few bumps on the road that all sum up to what's in the title: are they going too fast?
Primarily it's the Joker. He was a failed stand up comedian working in a bar (they brought something like that in during season 1 in the pilot) and desperate for money when Falcone (or Maroni) gives him the red hood costume & AFTER falling into the ACE Chemicals Plant he goes insane & becomes the Joker (after learning his wife & child died during childbirth--how sad). But with this they're basically taking the joker, plucking him from the future & presenting him 15 years too early. He's already the laughing madman (whose actor I'm not very fond of yet) & a nut who will probably be put into Arkham repeatedly and it just looks like bad timing to me. TOO EARLY

[END SEASON 1 SPOILERS]
Penguin is a boss and I won't even begin to list his awesome moments but he's my favorite character. My ONLY problem isn't really a problem but just a personal preference that he was always the most clever when he's in a tight spot--brilliant, crafty & on his feet when his life and/or position is on the line & he outfoxes everyone.
Other characters like Harvey Bulloc, Victor Zsasz (PERFECT adaptation), Loeb (ass), Selena and Alfred (badass ex MI-6) do a great job providing the show justice & I'm still excited to see the rest of the second season. I'm just hoping crap doesn't hit the fan & ruin annother great show.

Another slight personal dilemma (but understandable for story progression) is getting Falcone & Maroni out of the picture so early. In several of the comic adaptations they weren't a falling empire until the colorful villains came up the same time Batman started--but once again, the crime families are taken over 15 years earlier. BUT there's a chance that the actors had enough and/or the writer's decided it was time to set them to the side. All in all I guess it was necessary for 1+ reasons
As for Doctor Lee? Friggin' love her--which is weird as I usually don't like third wheel characters in romance relationships. But here it was the exact opposite as I liked her from the beginning. And with what happened to Barbra I can't really say I feel upset at all as I never liked her or her bad decision making long before she fell off the rocker.
