The old Dojo stood creaking against the gentle wind, outside the leaves rustled in the trees, and the dojo’s wooden frame was half swallowed by the forest that surrounded it. You could see moss climbing the steps, the paper screens along the walls had turned yellow over the years, and there was a faint sound of dripping water echoing from the cracked tiles of the ceiling. Outside the mist hung low, and the smell of wet cedar filled Giyu’s lungs as he stepped through the door.
The floorboards of the dojo creaked beneath his every footstep, dust floated through the dim light that filtered through the open Shoji and the cracks in the ceiling, where a single candle burned low beside a wooden rack of swords. Giyu stopped in the center of the room, his reflection was barely visible in the polished floor. He stood at the center taking in the still air of the dojo, the scent of wet wood and the faint trickle of water outside.
Giyu was young, had only been a member of the demon slayers for less than a year, he had yet to receive the traditional katana of the organisation, all he had on him was his regular attire and a katana that had little to no special features to it. He had travelled far to this point, to find this old dojo in the mountains, far from the worlds troubles and dangers. Yet Giyu had no clue as to why he had travelled all the way here, why the crow had told him to travel here, but this place felt old, yet it had no unique features, no ominous presence, it was simply that, a dojo.
