*Possible spoilers on bleach and naruto*
Itachi deceived everyone but 5 people that he killed everyone in the village. He was viewed as a villain his whole life after the Uchiha massacre. His reasons were for protecting the village and Sasuke Uchiha his brother. He devoted the rest of his life to make sure Sasuke would become a strong shinobi in the hopes that he would "avenge" the Uchiha clan making him the hero. He was and is a great shinobi. (my favorite ninja in the series lol, don't worry though, I won't go and claim he's better than all the shinobi because he isn't and plus I know better
)
Gin on the other hand was a soul reaper who became a villain in order to kill the man that stole "something" from Rangiku. He deceived everyone, even Aizen himself, of his true intentions. Even though he did not succeed in killing Aizen and revenging Rangiku of whatever was stolen from her, he not only almost beat Aizen, but helped Ichigo in the sense of molding him to change his view. At the time, Ichigo was doubting his skill at being able to defeat Aizen. Gin was "testing" him to see if he had what it takes to beat him. In the end, he stalled long enough for Ichigo to show up and finally fight Gin.
So who do you think was the better "hero"
