Water Release

Water Release is one of the 5 Basic Elements. It is known as Suiton in Japanese. Water Release allows the user to manipulate the water and give shape to it in order to defend against opponents technique or attack the opponent. One can manipulate the water in the surroundings to completely cover the body of the target in order to prevent him/her from breathing [Suigetsu vs Jugo] or by turning their own chakra into water the user can expel an entire wave of water from their mouth [Hashirama and Tobirama vs Hiruzen]. Although is it quite rare to use a Water Release Technique where there is little to no water, some shinobi [Tobirama Senju] have been capable of turning their own chakra into water as well as utilize the water in the air in order to perform a Water Release Technique. Water Release Techniques can be much stronger at places which have a Lake or Ocean because it would much easier to utilize the Water in the surroundings rather than turning your own chakra into Water. Places that are hot and dry seem to be a Water Release User's greatest nightmare. Affinity towards Water Release is common amongst shinobi from Kirigakure as they seem to have produced an entire clan that uses Water-Based techniques [Houzuki Clan].

Strong Against:
Fire Release
Water Release is strong against Fire Release as it cools down the flames however this does not mean that even a weak Water Release Technique would be able to stop a much stronger Fire Release Technique

Weak Against:
Earth
Earth Techniques are capable of weakening Water Release Techniques for example a large wall would easily slow down a wave of water. At the very same time; Earth Release Techniques are capable of absorbing water and turning it muddy
Collaboration:
Lightning
Water can be used in collaboration with Lightning and the result would be electrified water. A Kekkei Genkai [Storm Release] which is a combination of Lightning and Water however does not seem to work on the same principles

Wind
Water can be used in collaboration with Wind and the result would be a much faster and larger wave of Water. A Kekkei Genkai [Ice Release] which is a combination of Wind and Water however does not seem to work on the same principles

Famous Water Users:
(1). Kisame Hoshigaki
(2). Suigetsu Houzuki
(3). Second Mizukage
(4). Tobirama Senju
(5). Utakata

Forms of Suiton:

  • Mist is utilized by shinobi in order to hinder the sight of their opponents. A battlefield with mist shall certainly make it difficult for their opponent, to identify the location of the user although it will be equally difficult for the user to do the same. I personally believe the use of Mist is to buy time, and the fact that this jutsu is capable of blinding Sharingan and Doujutsu users makes the jutsu much more useful.. Byakugan however is not affected. Perhaps, if the user of the jutsu is the Byakugan user, he may use this jutsu before using a Katon technique for verily; the opponent will use Fuuton to get rid of the Mist from the battlefield and Katon > Fuuton.

  • Oil has been seen being used by the 2nd Mizukage although there are techniques that can be used by a normal shinobi. The main thing about oil is that it is flammable and anything flammable from the Suiton jutsu would perhaps be the last thing the opponent would expect. A Oil jutsu that a normal shinobi can use is Water Style: Black Clouds that involves weaving 3 handseals and summoning a flammable black cloud, on which the user may ride if he wants to. The cloud moves towards the target, and when it is directly above the target, it disperses; releasing flammable oil upon the target. The main thing about this jutsu is that the cloud can be sent to move towards the target, whilst the user may perform other techniques to distract the targets attention.

  • Sticky Glue
speaks for itself. It involves the user spitting out a sticky adhesive which can be manipulated by the user to move towards the target or perhaps stay as it is. The point is that once someone gets stuck in the jutsu, it is quite difficult to get out as seen when Kakuzu was forced to use his threads when he was stuck in the jutsu. The jutsu is best if used as a sneak attack and making sure that the target is unaware that he has been trapped in the Starch Syrup Jutsu.

  • Solidified Water perhaps involves leaving out some properties of raw chakra in Suiton or perhaps increasing the viscosity of Suiton chakra to such an extent that it becomes hard or its density increases. Solidified would perhaps be a wrong term for Solidified water is referred to as Ice and that is another Kekkei Genkai. The main use of Solidified water is that it can be used to defend against jutsus that involve 'brute strength' like perhaps Taijutsu? Or perhaps Doton. The main concept is to harden and take the damage instead of being useless water :| . Another way to use this jutsu is by incorporating it with Shape Manipulation to form a shield, a sword or perhaps a dragon ready to tackle the enemy and break his bones

  • Pressurized Water... It is perhaps similar to Fuuton techniques where the chakra is made thinner and sharper. The point of Pressurized water is to slice through everything in its path.. It may be used to slice through a rock or perhaps pierce through the heart of the opponent. The fact that Pressurized Water is fast, thin and sharp makes it quiet deadly for it moves where the user directs it [Or moves his lips] and this jutsu makes it ideal for assassinations? Or maybe to cut the opponents limbs... as I see it

  • Rain.. Although there is another Element known as Rain, there are many jutsus in Suiton itself which involve utilising Rain drops. The jutsus may involve causing the area to rain, in order to detect the location of the target or perhaps for flammable oil to rain or perhaps for sharp droplets of water to rain that would damage the target. Whatever the case maybe, Rain being exploited by someone would be the last thing one would expect!

  • Sharks are perhaps created when one conjoins Nature Transformation and Shape Manipulation. However, these Sharks seem full of life, and hungry for flesh and bones. One can spew out sharks or perhaps create a sphere of water to trap the opponent, and from the same water sharks would form. The point is that sharks are very deadly, and can be easily used by the opponent to distract someone for a second or two

Ok then, that was a nice read but lemme just correct you on somethings really quick. Sharks, Pressurized Water, Rain aren’t the forms of water. Let’s be honest here, they are all the same thing just released in different ways but yeah you got them mostly right. Oily Water, Sticky Glue though it’s more like Adhesive Water or Starchy Syrup, Mist and the other one is actually Crystalline Water. The release methods are different among them though like how regular water can be released as Rain, Pressurized Jets of Water, Water Shaped into Sharks though this mainly to Shark Contract Signers or in this case as well Soapy Water or Bubbles.

Anyway good stuff. Earth Release and Water Release are kinda hand in hand when it comes to the weakness as Water isn’t dense enough to break Earth apart normally but creating enough pressure like some water attacks and you can actually cut through stone with it. Fire is obvious but again some Fire Techniques are hot enough to actually counter water release but evaporating it and turn it into mist/steam. Lightning is another hit or miss element as it can work with and also against it, while its neutral to Wind Release.

Now for my trainings I normally do a discussion based style of training where we sit down and go through the jutsu and such by telling me some weaknesses and strengths and such. I also tend to point out things like Hand Seals if they have any and aren’t mentioned as you can actually lose fight or get quoted on some things like that but anyways let’s start right off the bat with the basic stuff. So let’s start with the D-ranks

Alright so basic technique, Suiton no Jutsu. This is your average “tool kit” technique for all the basic elements. I call it a tool kit technique as you can pretty much make almost anything within reason. You can’t obviously make a flood worth of water but you can do some pretty hand things if you put some time into thinking with it. Not much to really say about this technique

Kirigakure no Jutsu or Hiding in the Mist Technique is one of the more “iconic” techniques from the show. It uses your water chakra in order to form a thick mist around the area, blocking the vision of others including yourself. As a Kirigakure ninja , my bio is naturally adjusted to this however as an example so I can see pretty fine inside of the mist. The technique can be a nice counter to Sharingan users as they won’t be able to see you as your chakra is filled inside the mist. So lets say the color they see is “blue” for water, all they would be seeing is blue chakra all over the place but this technique has no effect on Byakugan users. The technique has two forms of release which is via the mouth or through an existing water source. The usage of the mouth uses Ox → Snake → Ram seals and from the water source is Seal of Confrontation. Though this is up for debate on which one really works as im saying this based on what I seen in the anime/manga. Other all a next technique to throw Sharingan/Most Sensory Users off and can be a nice cover if used correctly.

Mizu Kuri no Yaiba is a rather simple technique, you pretty much make a sword of water that can stab people and lastly Junsai no Jutsu, which Ill leave to you to tell me about. If you have any questions let me know and ill answer in my next post.

(Suiton No Jutsu) - Water technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary/Attack/Defence
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points:20
Description: Creates small waves of water, small blasts, and small shields of water.
Note: Doesn't require a water source but can be used to manipulate existing water.

(Kirigakure No Jutsu) - Hidding in Mist Jutsu
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This displacement technique creates a thick mist to spring forth by lifting up some water from either a pre-existing source or expelled from their mouth, then goes in and out of sight at will from within the pearly-white realm. The mist's thickness is controlled by the amount of chakra kneaded into it. It can't fool the Byakugan, but, due to the mist being created with the user's chakra, any Sharingan and Rinnegan-user will see the mist coloured by their opponent's chakra, which will effectively hide the user from the dōjutsu.
Note: Can be created through releasing from mouth or manipulating a nearby water source.

(Suiton: Mizu Kuri No Yaiba) - Water Style: Sword of Draining
Rank: D
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: A technique that utilizes water to create a sword. The sword can be wielded in the normal fashion, allowing the ninja to cut and stab like with a normal blade.
Note: Doesn't require a water source.

( Suiton: Junsai no Jutsu ) - Water Release: Water Shield Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary, Defence
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 10
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user will manipulate their water chakra and releasing it from their arm which is held outwards infront of them and they then create a shield of water that can aide in defence against projectile weapons and close combat techniques.

Ight so this technique i feel is pretty self explanatory. Its used to defend against projectiles and other close ranged attacks. I think it can also be used against taijutsu users and to defend against physical attacks (if they arent strong enough to break through)

Well yeah most D-ranks aren’t that great so nothing really much to comment on it. Now we are heading into the C-ranks but I can’t just give out all the techniques so we will be going in a set of three techniques, maybe four if you impress me enough. Alright now let’s move onto the next set of techniques, the first one being Water Release: Water Whip.

Now you simply make the required hand seals and using your water chakra into your hands you make a simple water whip or lasso so to speak. You can use it to lash at the enemy and also bind them with it by choking them. The part about being able to use Lightning with it is kinda outdated as im not sure if you’d need to constantly maintain chakra in order to keep it active but Ill clarify with my sensei to make sure. If not, you can combine with Lightning Release: Wave of Inspiration to increase its power.

Second technique is the technique that resembles one of the water forms mentioned before which is the starchy water form. Now this technique is a dozy because it can be an extremely useful technique if used right. After making a two seals you channel your chakra into your gullet and shape it into water but at the same time make it “sticky” like glue. Now to you how would you use this in combat? What ways can you think off when you read this technique. Also a small note is that a person can “walk” on It with the channel chakra into their feet before hand.

Now the last technique for this set is the Water Clone technique. It’s a rather weaker version of the Shadow Clone technique but a better version of the clone technique. Its honestly not that great as you might think but it can save chakra if you’re not opting for splitting your chakra too much with a shadow clone. By using 1/10th of your chakra into an existing water source you can make a clone of pure water. It can use Water Release up to C-rank but can’t leave outside of short range of you were as it will simply fall down back into water.

(Suiton: Suiben) - Water Release: Water whip
Rank: C
Type: Offensive, supplementary
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: 30
Description: After the user performs a series of 3 hand seals Rat → Dog → Ox, the user creates a whip of water that can be used to strike the opponent with a lashing action or wrap around the target to bind them. This technique can also have lightning techniques channeled through when they have bound their victim with the water whip.

(Suiton: Mizuame Nababara) - Water Style: Starch Syrup Capture Field
Rank: C
Range: Short/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user After performing the required hand seals Ram → Tiger spits out high-viscosity, chakra infused water, aimed at a surface of wide scope. This is a stream of sticky liquid which can be used to form an adhesive trap that can inhibit a person's mobility. One can effectively reduce their enemy's area of activity with this technique, and has the effect of being able to take complete control over the battlefield. The normal scope of this technique is normally just a few metres, but if prepared, it is also possible to make an entire pond of starch syrup. Being caught in the technique can be avoided by channelling chakra to one's feet allowing one to walk upon it uninhibited, beforehand.

(Mizu Bunshin) - Water Release: Water Clone
Rank: C
Range: Short
Type: Supplementary
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: After performing the Tiger hand seal the user creates a clone of themselves made of water. These water clones have 1/10th of the users chakra. These clones are also limited in that they can only travel short range from the user without losing control. When a water clone take enough damage they revert back to normal water.
Note: Can only perform up to C rank Water techniques and requires a water source.

Being caught in the technique can be avoided by channelling chakra to one's feet allowing one to walk upon it uninhibited, beforehand.

Ight so if i were to use this in a fight i'd try and catch them off guard with it. Since someone can just walk on it using their chakra i would get them in a position where they arent prepared for it. If possible i would try and knock them in the air and have the trap waiting on them when they fall. Another way i could use this is put it on some slabs of earth and send a earth wall or something their way and have their whole body stick to it.

Pretty simple but not bad xD now let’s move onto the next set. So now then we shall move onto the next set which will be a pair of 3 since that last explanation was kind of simple haha.

Water Fang Bullet is a really good technique if you’re fighting on an aquatic area like a river or near a body of water. What you do is make the Tiger seal and using your chakra you manipulate it from underwater in order to create a spiraling sharp edged formation of water. Its physical enough to actually pierce into an enemy due to how solidly compressed it is. It works well with techniques that can blind the enemy or distract them from noticing the water form from them. The real down side to this technique is that it can only be used within short range sadly.

Hidden Mist Eye Sight Deprevation is one of those technique you actually can’t find. So I have no real idea where it came from assuming it’s a game technique. Now from what it reads, after using the hidden mist technique you basically use the water particles inside of the mist in order to refract the light that enters the mist and cause it to reflect all over inside the mist causing the enemy to go blind for a while. In all honesty this technique isn’t that great but how knows how a someone else would go about using it. This obviously doesn’t affect people with the Byakugan and but can work as a double hindrance to Sharingan and Rinnegan Users.

And the last one of this set is Water Shockwave, which is simple technique. You clasp your hands together as you channel chakra into the moisture around you causing a swirling vortex of water to form around you. Once the water forms you can control it to either be released as a wave towards an intending target or simply as a 360 wave around you. The power of the technique varies on how much chakra you use within it but since your only on C-ranked water for now, you can only use the C-ranked version.

Now for Water Shockwave, let’s say you launch it as wave towards the enemy but they use Earth Release Technique it launches themselves into the air above it. What can you do with the wave in response to this?

(Suiton: Suigandan) - Water Release: Water Fang Bullet
Rank: C
Range: Short
Type: Offense
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: A technique that deals physical damage to the enemy with a liquid mass brought forth from underwater. Its power to kill and maim is augmented by adding a spinning motion to the compactly pressured water. During fights on water, taking advantage of its characteristic ability to attack from anywhere in a 360 degrees radius, in conjunction with other techniques for distraction, confusion and so forth, this technique has an extensive array of applications.
Note: Requires a water source.

(Suiton: Kirigakure Shiryoku Hakudatsu) - Water Release: Hidden Mist Eye Sight Deprevation
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra cost: 15(-3 each turn to keep it active)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: Using the hidden mist jutsu the user reflects the natural light an a way that it blinds there opponent temporarily as long as the opponent is in the mist.
Note: Must have already used hidden mist jutsu

(Suiton: Suishōha) - Water Style: Water Shock Wave
Rank: C-B-Rank
Type: Offensive, Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 15-20
Damage Points: 30-40
Descripton: This technique allows the user after claping their hands together to make a spiralling vortex of water to form around them out of nowhere in a vortex like manner. The vortex then proceeds to cascade into an wave of water that rampages towards the intended target or all around. The size and power of the technique is dictated by the amount of chakra put into the technique, varying from C-rank to B-Rank.

So if i send it towards someone and they use earth to leap over it can i then use the water and change it into a water fang bullet and have it go upwards? If possible i would try and bring the wave backwards some so that they fall into it?

Yes that is something I was like like looking for in terms of the follow up. You can use the existing technique if they some how managed to jump or dodge it as a water source as well in order to continue on the follow up. Alright alright so we're going to continue to next technique which I will be teaching.

okay so for the next technique it doesn't really take much to do all you have to do is channel chakra into the sky after making hand seals and basically make it rain. Okay so this rain is a little special because it allows you to be able to sense people through it and that is basically what it is is just chakra sensing rain.

The next technique is one that was used Kisame and Zabuza. So what you do is basically make the needed hand seals and once you done that you manipulate the chakra in order to form it into a sphere around the enemy. This can be done by spewing the water out from your mouth or through a water source. Its s pretty risky technique if no proper set up is given but all in all works well with clones.

Due to being a little impatient you only get these two techniques. I'm busy irl and my PC is broken so posting via mobile isn't the easiest thing in the world.

(Suiton: Ukojizai no Jutsu) - Water Style: Rain Tiger at Will Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: A perception ninjutsu, allowing one to freely manipulate rain infused with the user's own chakra after waving the Bird → Rat → Ox → Monkey → Rat → Snake hand seals. The rain falls from rain clouds, formed with the users own chakra. During this technique, the falling raindrops are closely linked to the users senses. When the rain is obstructed by a chakra belonging to someone the existence of the target can be detected. The rain will keep on falling until the user uses the seal to cancel it.

(Suiton: Suirou No Jutsu) - Water Style: Water Prison
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra cost: 15
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This technique is used to trap a victim inside a virtually inescapable sphere of water by waving the Snake → Ram → Horse → Hare → Ram → Horse → Hare → Hands spread in front palms out. The only downside to this technique is that the user must keep at least one arm inside the sphere at all times in order for the victim to remain imprisoned. This technique requires a sufficient amount of water, which can be provided by expelling it from one's mouth. Once trapped the target is unable to move while within it due to the heaviness of the water. Because of the density of the water it can be used, to a limited extent, for defensive purposes if performed on oneself. Water clones can be used in preparation for the technique, which block an opponent's attack and trap the attacker in the prison using the clone's own water

So any questions about these two?

This ones pretty cool. Use some mist on the battle field and blind everyone then make it rain and you can feel out the opponent.

This omes pretty cool too but the one arm thing is risky. Best used if you can do one handed seals when fighting multiple opponents.
