If genjutsu worked then itachi would've used it against edo nagato instead of using amaterasu. IMO it does not work

What would Tsukuyomi do against an edo? It cannot kill him.Thats why Itachi did'nt use it

Regardless of whether it's sound or ocular genjutsu, it's a disturbance in your chakra network and there is not much proving that ocular genjutsu would or wouldn't effect a Rinnegan user.

IMO it doesnt seem like it works. Otherwise as i said in my example Itachi wouldve used it

it base on the user of rinnegan.Nagato was an uzamaki from birth and he was given the rinnegan by nagato.His body is not naturally made for sharingan as the uchiha body,this is why he could not have use Madara EMS eys or MS skill.I believe Nagato will be under control by genjutsu .However a uchiha who obtain rinnegan will be able to counter genjutsu like sasuke counter itachi tsukyomi and other genjutsu

Don't let him confuse you, he clearly has no knowledge of the workings of different types of paralysis genjtusu and how it vastly differs from itachi's Tsukuyomi also the potential side effects of each on an Edo. I'll explain if you like.

Genjutsu would affect Nagato himself like any normal ninja. Genjutsu affect chakra flow to the brain, thats how it works. However, it wouldn't work on the Six paths of pein being that the original Nagato simply has to disrupt their chakra flow (via the rods) and they'd snap right out of it.

It wouldn't work on the Paths of Pein because Nagato would notice the chakra disruption in the bodies, but it would definitely work on Nagato himself under ideal conditions.

Sound would be the only genjutsu that would work, NOBODY can escape sound Genjutsu unless you are Deaf.

I'mm gonna say I think genjutsu won't work on rinnegan, the same way it won't work on byakugan. Byakugan users can be placed in genjutsu, however they can recognize the fact that they are in a genjutsu and break it, which makes them semi-immune to most genjutsu. paralysis genjutsu can still catch them, however a rinnegan user can use something like shinra tensei to still attack while immobilized.

Rinnegan doesn't have the ability to innately counter Genjutsu like the Sharingan does. Nagato however mastered Yin Release (The basis and element of Genjutsu and can use Genjutsu traps quite well) so Genjutsu besides Frog Song (Obviously), Tsukuyomi, and Koto (Obviously) should be no problem for him.
