Ive been on this site for a good while now and in a lot of VS threads or debates a lot of people think that genjutsu one shots opponents.. i feel that genjutsu is seriously over rated ... ninja have been taught to get out of genjutsu its a basic teaching...

genjutsu isnt indestructable and yes i know a lot of you will come in to this thread and start saying that no one has shown to break itachi's genjutsu.. but seriously not many people have been caught in his genjutsu apart from kakashi and sasuke if i remember :|

not to mention that for itachi to activate his Tsukoyomi that you have to look into his eyes...

anyways this thread isnt just on itachi lol so dont bash me xD

my point is who else in the base think that genjutsu is very over rated?

I think Tsukuyomi is overrated. It's like #30 in my Top 100 strongest techniques :| But other Genjutsu like Kurenai's is underrated.

yes some genjutsu is very under rated only because we dont see it often... apart from an uchiha its very rare to see a ninja use basic and cool genjutsu which is a shame :|

In a way, yes.
Most genjutsu can be dispelled quite easily, hence why it's not used very often by regular shinobi.

However, it's the high-ranked genjutsu such as Tsuyukomi and Kotoamatsukami that are quite difficult to break 1v1. It kinda makes sense when people claim that Itachi could potentially one-shot anybody with Tsuyukomi, given that it works within a few seconds and from how Kakashi reacted, but it's pretty useless in a 1v2+ situation.

Just my two cents on the subject. It does feel like many vs threads regarding an Uchiha overrate the power of genjutsu.

I believe we don't see enough genjutsu, there is seriously the uchiha and a select other few who we have seen use it, like Kakashi on Sakura or asumas girlfriend (can't think of her name right now) lol it's the least shown of the 3 forms of ninjutsu

Edit: kurineigh or something that's her name right??
+ some genjutsu is over rated and redicilous but hey what you gonna do about it??

Genjutsu is underrated if anything with majority still not being able to understand how it works.
Anyway apart from the potent genjutsu's we know off. Genjutsu in general has never been to 1 shot an opponent but rather create an opening.

If you play pokemon think of genjutsu as using your pokemon to use smokescreen instead of a straight forward attack

ye i know this but wat people tend to forget is that you have to look into itachi's eyes kakashi managed to fight itachi without being captured in genjutsu by avoiding eye contact so its not impossible to avoid his genjutsu in a way .. i understand how strong itachi's genjutsu is but its limited

I haven't seen any non-uchiha breaking out of sharingan genjutsu. The blonde sensor with reikage got owned by Sasuke' genjutsu and couldn't even move, Orochimaru got caught in Itachi' genjutsu and couldn't do jack. Even Reikage himself got caught in Madara' genjutsu and got fooled like an old fool lol.
IMO, genjutsu is extremely strong and effective and the reason for that is, because in manga we haven't seen a way to break out of it if you're alone. Until kishimoto comes up with a way to break out of sharingan genjutsu; it's going to be a top 3 technique.

Getting out of genjustu is a basic training exercise that requires an outside source to disturb the intruding chakra.

Only those cited to have good chakra control can do it alone.

Learning genjustu itself is noted to be very difficult most ninja are not practical at it.

Tsukuyomi is one of the strongest genjustu out there.

Genjustu is not overrated.

There is just a lot of confusion.

If everyone and there grandma knew how to use genjustu then i would agree that genjustu is overrated but its not.Legendary nin like jiraiya can't do much against genjustu on his own.

Never compare or use Pokemon as an example to explain battle situations.

What isn't overrated on NB i wonder. As for sharingan genjutsu by that i take it you mean 3 tomoe and not ms, i don't think so.
Hype and feats either from manga or DB disagrees. If i were you i woundn't take part or take too much notice of vs threads tbh
