Genjutsu is definitely overly hyped.

FYI- Deidara and Oro have been caught in Itachi's genjutsu as well.

ah ty forgot about them however i must point out that both of them was just caught of guard and not fully ready for a fight

Getting out of genjustu is a basic training exercise that requires an outside source to disturb the intruding chakra.

Only those cited to have good chakra control can do it alone.

Learning genjustu itself is noted to be very difficult most ninja are not practical at it.

Tsukuyomi is one of the strongest genjustu out there.

Genjustu is not overrated.

There is just a lot of confusion.

If everyone and there grandma knew how to use genjustu then i would agree that genjustu is overrated but its not.Legendary nin like jiraiya can't do much against genjustu on his own.

yes i know that not many people can use genjutsu effectively and itachi's tsokuyomi is deffinetly strong but has drawbacks and limitations... but i suppose i think its more over rated becuase of people going onto a VS thread and making statements such as 'Genjutsu one shots'

its not as simple as this and that is why i think its quite over rated.. or more so a lot of people dont understand genjutsu properly

I've only heard of that tsukyomi thing ever repeatedly being stated as a one shotter. So no, I don't think it is, because I barely ever see it mentioned outside of the already mentioned one.

And then, the only people who ever really receive the praises of genjutsu strong enough to one shot anybody are Brother Itachi and Brother Shisui, so yeah.

What isn't overrated on NB i wonder. As for sharingan genjutsu by that i take it you mean 3 tomoe and not ms, i don't think so.
Hype and feats either from manga or DB disagrees. If i were you i woundn't take part or take too much notice of vs threads tbh

i suppose so, so much is over rated on NB...

he didnt stop his genjutsu he just resisted for a while then he got stuck

i never said he stopped his genjutsu i just said he avoided it by avoiding eye contact.. there are people who just states that he one shots with genjutsu and forget that this tech is limited

Tobirama is the only one/thing on NB that's not overrated.

Only genjtusu I know that "oneshots" is Itachi's tsukyomi, and maybe kotoamatsuki if used correctly..

Genjutsu is normally used to stall someone and THEN kill them...though if you're completely oblivious, apparently a ninja can even make you kill yourself with genjutsu (Itachi vs deidara)

underrated? no, most people don't even comprehend why it's op, there's a reason it's the least used thing in the manga..

No it's the opposite genjutsu is underrated. People only take the very strongest genjutsu to account, when making vs threads.

Fact is even basic genjutsu can be determining factor in a 1 vs 1 battle. How do you know that you are in a genjutsu? Even Bee was fooled by Itachis basic crow genjutsu, but the Hachibi snapped him out of it.

But it's really hard to use std genjutsu in vs threads, because they are entirely dependent on the situation. Take Naruto for instance. I bet your arse that SM Naruto couldn't beat sasuke or itachi 3 tomoe, simply due to the fact that their use of genjutsu, would confuse him too much.

But also look at 2nd mizukage, his genjutsu was awesome, and pwned even Gaara. It's not only the uchiha, who uses genjutsu U_U Even Hashirama had genjutsu.

yes i know how strong itachi's tsokuyomi is and why its powerful and if used correctly it could one shot but like ive said before people tend to forget its limitations

Can't even put more emphasis on this, I have a thread about it in my sig, but if plot doesn't come into play, and a ninja doesn't make his genjutsu obvious (crows flying about) then there is almost no way of realizing you're in one and breaking it, before you die in real life..

Bee is proof of this statement... He himself didn't realize he was in a genjutsu untill he was told and crows started flying about.. he was 2 seconds away from being slaughtered by shruiken, had hachibi not intervened...
Yes, bee was almost defeated by a normal 3 tomoe genjutsu

What happens with ninja who don't have a jink to break them out quickly?
Thank god genjutsu is used as a plot device in this manga...its essentially as OP as Aizen's bankai

I'd say overpowered if anything. And I think the main reason why people get irritated is because of the number of times it is used in "1-shot" scenarios during debates. Although I think those posts are usually made just to provoke instead of actually debating seriously.

Having said that, the reason why it is overpowered is slightly justified by the fact that as a ninja art, it is said to be very difficult to learn and master, hence the reason why it's not used as much in contrast to Nin or Tai

As this guy said. Genjutsu might be the most underestimated jutsu there is imo. People start thinking of Itachi as soon as genjutsu is mentioned wich is understandable since he is known to be THE most skilled genjutsu user, but even Itachi has a weakness wich OP was allready aiming for. If you know what you are up against you can avoid eye contact, it's a visual genjutsu.

What if everything this guy stated was done with a vocal genjutsu. one applied on the victim by sound. It wouldn't be as simple as to close your eyes anymore.

Things you should remember though is that it's not as easy as it seems to use genjutsu on the level that Itachi does here. The user must create the whole alternative reality in detail and if something is forgotten a sharp ninja might realize it's a trick. That is most likely why less skilled genjutsu users use unrealistic genjutsu to frighten and play on the emotions of the victim to keep them stressed enough to be unable to use "kai" properly. This however seems to be a fairly effective method as well though.
