Stealthily approaching the two shinobi from behind, the masked man stops once he comes within mid-range of them and decides to cast them in an illusionary technique. The genjutsu causes them to see an exact replica of himself approaching from their frontal view. With their guard down due to the success of the distraction, he sneaks behind the two and places each of his hands on their respective shoulders and whispers a single word into each of their ears.
Boo.
Now, what do the both of you already know about the illusionary arts ?
As Sensei approaches us from the front, I suddenly feel a hand on my shoulder and Sensei's sudden voice, startles me! That was a genjutsu? How did I manage to get caught in it? Damn!
Okay, Sensei! Here's my take on Genjutsu:
Genjutsu, which literally means "Illusion Techniques" are techniques that are employed in the same fashion as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and hand seals. However, the primary difference between the two is that the effects of genjutsu are illusory; instead of attacking the victim's body, like taijutsu or ninjutsu, genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain, thus causing a disruption in their senses.
This is frequently used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma, however, there are plenty of other uses depending on the situation. Genjutsu can also be used to manipulate others, similar to brainwashing by feeding the victim illusive suggestions, the primary example being Tobi controlling Yagura. Genjutsu can also be used for other supplementary purposes such as interrogating an individual by breaking their will. Genjutsu is created when a ninja controls the chakra flow of the opponent's cerebral nervous system, thereby affecting their five senses, especially touch. Those with special abilities like the Uchiha clan's Sharingan — which can cast generic genjutsu — or with high intelligence have an easier time executing and countering genjutsu. Those under the influence of genjutsu will either appear to be unconscious or continue to move around under the pretence of the genjutsu.
The latter is very effective in battle as a genjutsu user can make themselves appear to be somewhere else and attack the victim from behind. Genjutsu attacks usually require a lot of skill, and, if performed incorrectly, will not work; even Jiraiya had trouble performing such techniques. Genjutsu is most often used by ninja with very precise chakra control and very high intelligence.
Shisui's Kotoamatsukami was known to be the greatest genjutsu in existence, as it didn't require eye contact. Itachi was widely known as the master of Genjutsu.
Genjutsu can be used to deceive your opponent, and even make him attack his own opponent. One of the common ways of breaking out of Genjutsu is the Kai Release method. Additionally, the Bijuus inside Jinchuurikis can help them snap out of Genjutsu, as was demonstrated by Gyuki, when Sasuke used Tsukuyomi on Killer Bee. Another way is to inflict pain upon oneself to snap out of it. Also, Genjutsu can be used to torture an opponent mentally, as was shown in the manga, when Itachi used Tsukuyomi on Kakashi, which lead Kakashi into a mental trauma.
The most powerful genjutsu is said to be Mugen Tsukuyomi, as said by Madara Uchiha, wherin he could control the world, by trapping them in it, for eternity. The most proficient with Genjutsu, are Sharingan users, for example Itachi, who made Sasuke think that he was plucking out his eyes.
This is all I know.
As Sasuke finishes his explanation on Genjutsu, he looks at Hanou, and waits to see what she replies.
*As Hanou sees her sensei coming straight towards her, she feels his hand and jumps a bit, startled*
"So this is what genjutsu is capable of... Simple tricks... Hopefully we learn something useful by the end of this training sessions..." *She thinks to herself*
"Genjutsu... Genjutsu is one of the many techniques in the ninja world. It is used to put your opponent in an illusion-like but realistic-feeling state, depending on how strong the genjutsu is. It is used like any other technique, by hand seals and the usage of the caster's chakra. Although, visual genjutsu works quite differently."
*Hanou gently removes her sensei's hand from her shoulder. She did not like being touched*
"Genjutsu can be used on a single person, or be spread out to cast on an entire team, depending on how you distribute the technique. It can deliver very realistic and traumatizing damage to the victim's brain, causing them to think the pain is real or whatever images they are viewing in the genjutsu is real."
"I know of the Uchiha clan members being very skilled with visual genjutsu and a Senju member I look up to her for her genjutsu prowess... Senju Toka..."
Decent. However, Goku refrain from reciting what you've read somewhere from memory and aply your knowledge >_> (Don't copy and paste). Read the below and we'll continue.
The first step in realizing a genjutsu is observing for anything overly-obvious or something which would naturally probe your character's suspicion. In battle, I want you to observe even the smallest of disturbances in your surroundings and the slightest inconsistencies. I want you to notice, if a tree begins coiling around you, does it produce growing sounds as it emerges ? If a fireball is shot towards you, does the heat of the technique resonate from it and make you feel like the temperature is rising ? If you see an illusionary clone walking towards you, does it bend the grass when it walks ? If you get burnt by something, does the wound sizzle as the burn is inflicted ? Does the water beneath your feet ripple when you walk, or make any splashing sounds ?
Pay very close attention to the senses a technique affects, its fundamental to breaking a genjutsu. If a technique doesn't specify the senses it affects, make sure you don't assume anything. Find other ways of seeing through the technique. Does the illusion respect the laws of reality ? Does the illusion distort happen to abruptly and distorts the natural occurrence of events ? I can't teach you how to realize every genjutsu, I can only teach you the concept of doing so. The rest is up to how much you take away from this training. One thing to bare in mind is, when you're trying to realize genjutsu, don't come up with extremely complicated thought processes or anything which wouldn't be realistic in the heat of a battle. I don't want you to "god-mod" or try to use knowledge your character doesn't have to break Genjutsus. You must be realistic and legitimate in the way you break genjutsus. I'd hate to be that guy who teaches his students to metagame their way out of illusions >_>
Additional Information I'd like you to read
1) Kai Release Method
( Genjutsu: Kai ) - Illusion Technique: Release
Rank: C-S
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 15-40
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user does one hand seal to focus and then proceeds to disturb his chakra flow by forcefully stopping it momentarily and then "spiking" his spiritual energy, unbalancing his chakra. This dispels any genjutsu set upon the user except MS Eye Techniques, Paralysis-like Genjutsu and Demonic Illusion: Toad Confrontation Chant. The effectiveness of this technique is dependent upon the skill of the user. A Jounin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to C-rank. An S-class ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to B-rank. A Sannin rank ninja can dispel Genjutsu up to A-rank. A Sage rank user can dispel Genjutsu up to S-Rank. The user may use this technique through physical contact on others to dispel them from Genjutsu. The technique can only be used once per turn and the user still needs to fully follow the logic as to why he figured out it was an illusion.
Using Kai to release Genjutsu is the simplest and arguably most common method. After performing a single handseal, the user will stop their chakra flow for a moment before spiking it to purge the opponent's foreign chakra from your body, hence releasing the illusionary technique. It can range from a C-Rank to an S-Rank technique, depending on the rank of the genjutsu you're trying to break. If an A-Rank Genjutsu is cast on you, you'll use an A-Rank Kai to release the technique. Keep in mind that even if you learn Kai, to break higher ranking genjutsus e.g. A-Ranks, you have to be of the right ninja rank (determined by posts). Also, it requires a single handseal to perform and so this technique can't be used against Genjutsus which paralyze/immobilize your body.
Other things to remember is, its a really uncreative method and some fights have rules stating either "one kai per battle" or "No Kai at all". Make sure to watch out for rules like this and don't become too dependent on using it. I don't think i've ever used Kai xD
2) Pain Release Method
Like you all correctly stated, Pain Release is the quickest but the most consequential of all Genjutsu Release methods. You can inflict this pain upon yourself in various ways e.g. removing a kunai to stab your arm or biting off your tongue. Usually people attempt to simply bite their tongue/the inside of their cheek but this seems like an invalid method.
1) Biting your tongue without removing it will break D-Rank Genjutsu at most
2) Biting off your tongue seems like a disgraceful/embarrassing method to use. Especially if you have to spit it out in front of your opponent. It will make them feel like they have the upper hand
3) The severe blood loss caused by biting off your tongue will give you about three turns to live (possibly less).
4) You can't talk anymore xD
And so as I say to all my students, never release a Genjutsu through biting off your tongue.
This is the chart of releasing genjutsus and the amount of pain you need to inflict on yourself:
D-Ranks: Biting your tongue or equivalent
C-Rank: Cutting yourself slightly e.g. piercing your skin with a kunai
B-Ranks: Small stab wound or equivalent
A-Ranks: You need to stab/inflict serious harm to a limb or equivalent
S-Ranks: You need to lose limb or inflict equivalent pain
Another nice way I learnt from Better to release Genjutsus is using the C-Rank Stone Spikes technique. When you realize a Genjutsu, whether it paralyzes you or not, channel your doton chakra into the ground and cause a single spike of earth to emerge. Angle the spike the depending on how much pain you want to inflict.
(Doton: Ganchūsō) - Earth Release: Stone Spikes
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target
If you're breaking a A-Rank or below gen, angle the spike to strike into your thigh or another part of your non-dominant leg.
If you're breaking S-Rank gen (and have no other options), angle the spike to emerge directly beneath one of your legs, to completely crush it up to the knee region. This will keep you standing up and block blood from gushing out of your body.
This method inflicts serious harm on to you and is only recommended if you have no other options. Sometimes this is the best method to use and so its better to take many wounds rather than fail to counter a Genjutsu. Also, this isn't a possible method to use when you're standing on water or a similar terrain. If you have a bio which can heal or take such wounds e.g. Hidan, Kakuzu, a medical shinobi, using Pain to release genjutsu is very tactical indeed. You don't waste a move countering one of their techniques by making full use of your bio's capabilities.
3) Full body surges
A full body surge is basically a technique which releases/leeks chakra out of every chakra point on your body at the same time. This sudden burst of chakra purges any foreign chakra residing in the body. A full body surge will break Genjutsu of one rank lower than it e.g. an A-Rank Surge breaks B-Rank and below Genjutsus. New rpers often only associate the word "surge" which lightning techniques, when in actuality all elements have potential to be full body surges.
We'll be using the following template for all of the Genjutsu techniques we learn. You will learn two at a time, testing each and every Genjutsu you learn on eachother. Whilst under the effects of the Genjutsu, your partner will recite out loud how he/she can logically deduce why they think they're within a Genjutsu. Once they do this, they will successfully break out of the illusion and cast the other in the same Genjutsu. The faster you take to this and the more detailed your replies means we'll breeze through Genjutsu.

I have to accept, that I used wiki and copy pasted stuff. Tho, I added my own stuff too. I'll take care not to copy-paste next time.
And that was a good, detailed read. I have a question:
Can a user block any of his senses? I know, a user can close his eyes, etc..but how does one block any sense, so that the Genjutsu doesn't affect the user?
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 10 (+5 if you use it double)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
For the first technique, I'd like you to cast your partner in a genjutsu which changes a single feature about the battlefield itself e.g. makes a wall rise up, creates a pond or water source and etc. Quite a basic technique, doesn't require much explanation.
Key Points: Cannot effect things which aren't considered the terrain e.g. masking the fact you've thrown a kunai. Also, pay very close attention to wording. This jutsu only changes the way the terrain looks, meaning no sounds and smells are produced along with it. Also, any features you create, are of course intangible.

Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.
After doing that, I'd like you to perform a string of five handseals to cause your partner to see you "dissolve" into a cloud of cherry blossoms. These same cherry blossom petals will move towards the opponent and cloud his/her vision, allowing you to mask your movements in reality.
Key Points: Lower ranking techniques tend to control less senses, this probably controls the sense of sight *hint hint*
Now, follow my instructions, fill out the template and no one will get hurt xD.
( Magen: Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu ) - Demonic Illusion: False Surroundings Technique
Rank: D

Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.
Sasuke gathers his chakra and looks towards Hanou. He then thinks a bit and makes simple changes to the terrain. The ground below her starts shaking violently, as if an Earthquake has occured.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu: I would light the already violently shaking ground into fire, so as to make her think that there's a violent earthquake along with a massive fire on the ground.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: Basically, if carefully observed, the Earth suddenly started to shake, which turned into a violent earthquake. Before, an earthquake, you could see birds changing their direction of flight, and/or dogs and other animals suddenly start behaving strangely and there's a general change in the atmosphere. Also, if the flames that were lit on the surrounding ground gave a feeling of warmth before they lit the Earth? Because, when an opponent uses a Katon tech, the heat of the flames can be felt before they reach us. Hence, it can be ascertained, that it was a genjutsu.
Your preferred method of release: As it's the most basic technique, releasing the Genjutsu by pain would suffice.

Combinations you could make with this jutsu: Hmm..I could use a Fuuton jutsu, specifically speaking this :
(Fūton: Daitoppa) - Wind Release: Great Break Through
Rank: C
Type:Attack
Range:Short-Long
Chakra Cost:15
Damage Points:30
Description: This is a relatively simple technique that when the user performs the following hand seals Tiger → Ox → Dog → Rabbit → Snake they create a sudden gust of wind, but its scale varies greatly depending on the user. If used by a superior shinobi, it has enough destructive power to knock down a large tree. The wind from the squall can blow away all things in the user's line of sight. A variation of the technique involves a smaller blast of wind which gets ignited with flame.
to blow back the opponent in reality, while in the Genjutsu, the attack would direct the cherry blossom petals in a quick instant towards the opponent, hindering his vision.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: Well, flowers always have a smell to them. So, if the cherry blossom flowers were directed at me, I would check if they had any smell or not.
Your preferred method of release: As before, pain. A simple pulling of skin or a punch to the face would dispel the genjutsu.
*As Hanou sees the terrain around her bend and shake violently, she thinks to herself* "Interesting... I know just the thing..."
*After she examines the effects of the genjutsu, she then answers out* "It appears as if an earthquake is occurring. But the fact that there is no sound coming from the ground or anywhere else as it's peacefully quiet in this area, this is earthquake is false and therefor cannot hurt me at all..."
*As she answers, the shaking suddenly stops the terrain looked normal to her once again*
*She think about what Sasuke did and looks him in the eyes. She thinks as if the ground around Sasuke had just broken and now, he stood on only water. As soon as Hanou had placed him under the genjutsu, the effect carried on and he experienced them as he should*

Combinations you could make with this jutsu: This one would good i conjunction with (Suiton: Mizuame Nababara) - Water Style: Starch Syrup Capture Field because if they try to run off of the water in a panic, they will get stuck in the syrup field and if they break the genjutsu, they will still be surrounded by the sticky field, making them stay in the same place they had gotten the genjutsu placed on them or making them waste a technique/move to get past or around it.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: Because it doesn't actually change the terrain. It only changes the terrain as the opponent sees it nor do they experience things like sound that come with major changes of most terrains.
Your preferred method of release: Slice myself slightly on the arm with a kunai. Meaning a very small nick.

Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: As Minato said, flowers come with smells and the amount of pedals that come with utilizing this genjutsu, pollen should be produced. No pollen, no nearby flowers, no smell, isn't realistic.
Your preferred method of release: Use a small futon attack, nicking yourself in a body part and to see if the flower pedals move to your liking all in one turn.

That was an excellent observation, Moxxi. I misread this: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. :| My bad. So, the user just appears to dissolve into a shower of flower petals, rather than disrupting the chakra into his opponent's brain.
The False surrounding technique doesn't actually affect any sense but the opponent's sight, so there would be no vibrations/"earthquakes" due to any additions made to the terrain.

For this next technique, I'd like you to perform a single handseal before tossing a paper bomb towards the your opponent. The person you tapped in the genjutsu will instead see an illusionary clone of the user walking towards them. In battle, you'd detonate the paper bomb as it reaches your target, however since this is training do not detonate the explosive tags. We don't want any of you getting killed
Key Points: Its an illusionary clone, gives you a good idea of how you to realize this Genjutsu.

Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.
Following a similar concept, this Genjutsu also causes the user to see illusionary clones. Focus your chakra into your target's mind, causing them to see multiple clones of the user emerging from terrain-based features e.g. rocks, trees. If any of the clones are attacked, they'll appear to multiply, meaning it will seem as the opponent is not making in progress in defeating them. You can also co-ordinate and time your attacks with the clones to add an element of realism to the technique.
Key Points: Like the last technique, these clones do not disturb the terrain since they're purely illusionary. If you cause them to emerge from water, the water source will not ripple or produce any splashing sounds. Its best used in a noisy area (e.g. on a water source in stormy conditions).

Utilize this chakra to cause him/her to see a swirl of leaves surrounding them, before making it die down and fall away. A few seconds after this, your target will see an image of whatever they fear most in this world, severely shocking them and potentially causing them to faint. However, most ninja are strong hearted and so won't faint as a result of this jutsu, bare that in mind.

An exceedingly simple technique, but most tend to misunderstand or over-complicate it. If your opponent is running towards you in a straight line (if they do not specify, assume its a linear path towards you), you can cast them in this genjutsu. The genjutsu will cause them to see themselves continuing on in this straight line path, when in reality they're running around in circles and not covering any ground.

The technique itself is a basic chakra surge which can dispel up to S-Rank genjutsus if your rank permits it. As it requires a single handseal, any genjutsus which hinder your upper body maneuverability or cause paralysis which affects your arms can't be dispelled by this method. Genjutsu is commonly used to paralyze or prohibit certain movements e.g. handseals and so more often that not, this technique won't be a viable method of release. Personally, I don't use the jutsu that often since I like to think I would cope perfectly fine without it since there was once a limit on how many times this jutsu could be used per battle. It seems like its seen as the easy way out of genjutsus and the least creative method possible. However, sometimes its the best option to take as pain release is problematic for most bios and this technique can be used to free team mates from an illusion.
Key Points: Make sure to watch the rules for battles very closely, many of them say "No Sub/No Kai".
Hm. Interesting. So they don't form shadows, and that can be a way to recognize a haze clone. Btw, Goodbye Moxxi! ;_;

Combinations you could make with this jutsu: A simple combo would work. When the opponent is running around, I would manipulate the Earth so as to falter his balance.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: Very simple. I would pay good attention to the terrain beforehand. While running, I would notice if the same terrain was repeated or not, for eg: rocks and trees. An another method is to throw a projectile and notice it's path, if it was straight or was it bent by any angle.(Yes, I got it from Lili xD)
Your preferred method of release: A full body surge, i.e. Lightning Strike Armor OR I would pierce my arm with a kunai so as to release myself from it.

I perform one hand seal to focus, as I disturb the chakra flow in my body. This disturb in the flow, stops it momentarily as there is quite a hinderance in my spiritual energy, which unbalances my chakra flow.
Not following the template, as it's a Genjutsu releasing method!
Hm, usually its better to avoid this genjutsu entirely by running in a non-linear path e.g. a zigzag-like motion. However, if you do happen to be caught in it, you could simply use the reasoning you stated or use thrown objects to decipher you're moving in circles, since more likely than not the object will go off on angled flight path, clearly showing you're not moving in a straight line. I particularly like Lili-Chwan's reasoning on how to realize Genjutsus such as these.

Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.
This technique is rather basic and will require a target far weaker than you who is unable to move/paralyzed. For that reason, you'll be testing on my lab rat aka Margarine. After I paralyze him through the use of an unfocused burst of electricity, I want you to place your dominant palm on his forehead before focusing your chakra into his mind to "convince" him to reveal information. Usually Genjutsus cannot control the opponent's actions (except Sharingan gens), however this technique has many requirements to be able to do so. The opponent must be much weaker than you, physical contact is required which amplifies its effects and they must be weakened enough to be incapable of movements altogether.
Key Points: Not particularly useful for battle, however its a nice rp tactic to use in the Ninja World.

Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.
For this technique, I want you to cast your target in an illusion where they see a massive blast of fire descending from the sky above. This Genjutsu only affects the sense of sight, meaning the fireball can easily be distinguished from the real thing e.g. its devoid of heat, sounds of crackling and the characteristic smell of fire/the smoke it produces.

Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.
Finally, I want you to cast your opponent in a Genjutsu where they see a illusionary clone of you charging towards them. Once the clone gets within range of them, it jumps up and explodes into a cloud of cherry blossoms which masks their sight and disorientates them.
Key Points: Realizing this genjutsu relies primarily on the fact that its an "illusionary clone *hint hint*

Description: The user of this technique, upon casting on a stationary opponent with physical contact with them, is able to convince the enemy to give away information. However, this will only work on ninja two ranks lower and below than the caster.
Seeing the stationary lab rat, aka Margarine(XD), I place my dominant palm(right palm) on his forehead. Next, I focus chakra into his mind, to convince him to reveal information to me. He reveals the secret behind why kids love cinnamon toast crunch.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu: As it requires physical contact with the opponent, one would have to trap the opponent/restrict his movements. First, I would use Water Release: Starch Syrup Capturing Field to restrict the movements of his legs and then, I would use Earth Release: Iron Prison Technique to trap him and then use this jutsu to interrogate him.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: Pretty obvious. First off, if the opponent places his palm on the user's forehead, the user could easily make out, that the opponent would interrogate him. When caught tho, there's nothing much the user can do. My current rank is Sage, so I am completely immune to it.
Your preferred method of release: Instead of a body surge, I would use my kunai to slightly cut myself to release the genjutsu.

Description: The user casts an illusion where the opponent sees a huge ball of fire descending from the sky and enveloping its target.
Focusing on my chakra, I send it toward my target's mind, disrupting his brain waves. I manipulate it to cast him into an illusion, wherein he sees a large ball of fire descending from the sky with high speed, about to envelope him.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu: Basically, the opponent is made to believe that the fireball is descending from above. While, their focus is on the sky, I would use Earth Release: Stone Spikes and then Lightning Release: Fangs Of Lightning in succession to crush, electrocute and fry the opponent.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: I would carefully notice if the fireball gives off no heat, no smoke and also if it produces any distinctive sound.
Your preferred method of release: As before, release by pain(i.e. a small cut to the hand by the kunai)

Description: The user creates an illusionary clone that charges towards the enemy, jumps, then explodes in a cloud of cherry blossom petals which results in confusing the opponent and obscuring their vision, leaving them open for attack.
Focusing on my chakra again, I use it to disrupt the brain waves in the target's mind. Using my chakra to perform manipulation, I put the target in an illusion, where he sees an illusionary clone charging toward him. This causes him to get in a defensive position, but to his surprise, he sees that the clone has exploded into a cloud of sakura petals, which hinders his vision.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu: Mokuton: Sashiki no Jutsu. This is a perfect combo. Firstly, the opponent's vision would be obscured, so I would throw a wood projectile towards him, which impales him, after which it multiplies in his body. It would finish off the opponent with ease.
Your reasoning on why you would deduce it to be a Genjutsu: I would firstly notice if the clone has any shadows. Secondly, do the petals have any specific smell to them.
Your preferred method of release: A full body surge, i.e. Nagashi would suffice, as it could take a bit of a time to notice if the user's trapped in the gen or not, as well as it could paralyze the opponent.

Description:
The user will do a sequence of 3 handseals, putting his opponents under a double layered Genjutsu. The user is able to create false surroundings to fool his targets, much like the simpler version of the technique. However, the illusion is in fact layered. If the opponent manages to release the first one, he will then feel the effects of the second illusion. If, for example, the first illusion is that of a desert and the second that of a forest, upon releasing the first one, the opponent will see the desert fade away while the forest appears around him, making him think he dispelled the illusion while in essence he is still caught in one. Each illusion is equivalent to C-Rank and both are casted at the same time. While normal releases will release only one illusion at a time, a strong enough pain or an external source of chakra can dispel both at the same time.
For the first technique, I'd like you to cast your partner in a genjutsu which changes a single feature about the battlefield itself e.g. makes a wall rise up, creates a pond or water source and etc. However, unlike its lesser counterpart, for this technique you will add a second layer to this Genjutsu. Once the first Genjutsu is released, the second layer will be initiated e.g. You make the terrain look like a snowy wasteland, once the first layer is broken, it will transform itself into a molten/volcanic-like area.

Description: The user waves their sword back and forth, which when seen by the target locks them in a genjutsu which causes them to hallucinate multiple waving arms. The movement resembles that of a willow tree blowing in the wind. With the enemy off guard, the user is free to cut them down.
Now, I want you to grip a hold of your sword. If you don't have one, you can borrow one of mine. Wave the sword back and forth in front of you in a hypnotic-like manner. When the opponent looks upon the sword, they'll be trapped in a Genjutsu (looking at the sword is what initiates the Genjutsu). The hallucination/genjutsu will cause them to see your arm become several waving arms. While they're confused, you're free to cut them down.
Key Points: A good technique for Kenjutsu users. Never found this jutsu too useful
