Well in my opinion most protagonists suck anyway.
Goku was cool because he was funny ( Naruto is turning into a drama queen himself now, hyperventilation...he used to be funny ).
Well at least Alucard from hellsing is still the best protagonist.

totally agree with u there.. i havent seen a protagonist better then hem.. i like it when the hero is a little bit evil against enemy and is ruthless.. in story's like naruto/bleach the hero allways tries to be friendly against enemy's and they try to talk them out of it(vs pain) what fails most of the times and its really boring to read/watch(vs sasuke). but alucard is ruthless... i remember 1 episode where he shoots the legs of the enemy.. then litterly eats hem alive.. while he begs for hes live..
and thats the action i wanna see from a protagonist:devil:...

Or the episode in wich he snaps someones leg by kicking it, and then shreds his way up his arm all the way up to his shoulder.
The guy knows how to kill in style.
Although I must say that that priest, Alexander Anderson is pretty bad ass as well.
I think the protagonists should be cruel and sadistic, since thats what I want to see.

naruto is a fun manga to read and a fun anime to watch, however there are a few bothersome aspects that gnaw at me whenever i decide to start reading naruto mangas or watching the animes.

sasuke is too powerful, all the fun characters get killed off, naruto only knows 1 ability the entire manga, madara might as well be jesus christ, and then konan, one of the few aesthetically pleasing characters, is sucked into ultimate uchiha jutsu and implodes.

it is almost insulting to watch naruto chase after sasuke after being betrayed and spat on trying to save him. this manga has delivered several valuable life lessons but this one is a actually a type of mental disorder.

sasuke still captures the heart of naruto's one love interest after taking a 3 year hiatus?? what an overwhelmingly worthless protagonist! dragonball z atleast had some good powerups and certainly wouldn't have been as popular if goku had just been a punching bag for his enemies.

great story overall. perhaps i am seeking too much depth from Naruto.
