*Takes out a pair of glasses from his pocket and puts them on* Ah, Gobi-san. You're finally here.

Now, let's begin. Before we go into anything, let's revise the basics: The Five Elements™. Although this may seem like a waste of time to revise these; more often than not, people do forget the backbones that form the skeleton of the elements. We shall begin with Katon - Fire release. Aye?

The fire element, unlike other elements, does not come from a medium of fire. The majority of Katon techniques are made from oneself. Knowing this, the obvious range that will be most effective for fire would be short and mid but the latter would be easily countered by a water technique. In addition, Katon has the highest probability of ending a match if it were to hit an opponent due to the heat, it will cause severe burns and cause the opponent to become incapacitated or on the brink of defeat.

With both things in mind, Katon can prove deadly when used in close-proximaty as it's formed from the user and inflicts deadly injuries. Though obviously hand seals are a problem when trying to be quick and effective. There are some examples of techniques that require one or two hand seals which will be most efficient; these are: Great fire dragon technique (Tiger seal), Blaze ball (Horse - Tiger) and obviously Flame Rasengan. There are more but I will leave that for your own investigations.

Fire is also a very versatile element in terms of combining with other elements. Three out of the five elements can be combined with Katon to make something new to add to your arsenal. Fire and Earth make a molten substance and in some cases even lava. Lava is a very effective combo as it is very hard to countered by basic elements but one disadvantage of it is because of the earth basis, it is easily evaded as most combinations are not airborne and mostly ground-based.
Fire and Wind make an even stronger fire-based attack, as we all know because this is probably the first combinations we've ever used back in the noob days though because it is so common, people have adapted to it and can easily counter it with a water/wind attack but despite this, it does have some advantages when it comes to raw assaults.
Finally, fire and water to create steam. This combination is most effective in counters as steam does not possess much strength in itself but it acts as a veil to allow you a couple of seconds unnoticed. These seconds can become priceless and can be the match decider if used correctly.

Hmmmm *tilts his glasses up* Got it?
