This all depends on where you are reading this from, but why do people go crazy trying to save 3-4 cent a gallon?

I just had a cousin post on FB about getting gas for 1.79 a gallon. The catch, that she didn't seem to get, is that she had to buy a carwash which cost her $8. she saved 20 cents per gallon and got 11 gallons. That's saving $2.20. But she paid $8 first so she lost $5.80 rather than saving anything. Why do people fall for this and then go brag about it like they did something awesome by "saving" money? You didn't save anything you lost more than you would have paying the additional $.20 per gallon.

Marketing techniques are ingenious, aren't they? Making people think they're getting something great while making them pay for something they probably didn't want in the first place. :vincent:

Because not everyone looks for the catch when they see "deals" like this. They forget that in order to make deals, something else will be added on to the cost of the "savings" they think they just received. XD

Maybe because gas costs a lot more than you think in some places.
wish it costed a $1.79 here. Gas is currently at about 2.34 per gal unless you go to the fringe of the city

she didn't "have" to buy the carwash.....the carwash and the gas are controlled by two different sources so IDK where you're getting at......gas sold by name brands don't have a choice on how much they wanna sell their gas....and it isn't 3-4 cents.....also a couple of years ago a gallon of gas was almost $5

Not where she gets it from, hence the disclaimer THIS ALL DEPENDS WHERE YOU'RE READING THIS FROM, also I broke down the gas prices she saved 20 cents and paid $1.79 that means gas is regularly $1.99. Even still no matter where you go I'm willing to bet you'll find the same scenario even if it's $17 per gallon and a car wash saves you $1 per gallon the car wash probably costs around $20 in that scenario, most business owners are smart enough to only give the illusion of a sale, like marking up a product by 30% the week before putting it on sale for 20% off, leaving the owner with a 10% increase in profit from last week while people still think they're saving money.

Do you not know how gas stations with car washes work? The owner of the gas station has a car wash on their property, you pay them for the car wash and then they give you the discount per gallon on your gas. If you go to BP gas stations most all of them have one. But again for those people who don't read, PRICES DEPENDS ON LOCATION.

The owners of branded gas stations doesn't have say in the prices of gas.....prices depend on the company.....
