I dont beleave that Garra lost his ability to use sand then he would lost his position as the Hoshikage and wouldnt be a shinobi anymore because he only know to use sand atacks but i know that he controls the sand in the gourd with chakra but dont know if its his or shukakus chakra
Nah he should still be able to use it theoretically as naruto doesn't have to use the kyuubi's power to do rasengan....
the sand in the jar on his back protected his instinctavley when he was one with shukaku i believe he can control the sand to a high level just not to as good as he possibly could have if he still had shukaku in him

Naruto never really used the kyuubi to do rasengan...Nah he should still be able to use it theoretically as naruto doesn't have to use the kyuubi's power to do rasengan....
i searched around and yes he can still control sand apparently he pulls naruto's hand foward for a handshake after the gaara rescue arc and in an interview with Mish he said that Gaaras ability to control sand can never be taken away as well as the dark rings around his eyes.
he can still use sand... it was shown in the end of the last anime that we saw him in... after he was resurrected he used sand for something... i believe he used it to help himself get up. But his sand probably isn't as strong...

dats not the point dev noruto never really realized the power of the fox until he fought Haku but garra was protected by the sand from the moment of his birth so technically we can't really say dat he will be able to use itThats my point.....lol im saying why should gaara need shakaku to use the sand...hehe

he still knows how to use sand but he has less chakra and he hasnt that sand thing always protecting himdude watch the anime episode where gaara was rescued.....watch closely when gaara shakes naruto's hand......
